Bitcoin is all I’ve been pumping on here for the past ~2 years after starting as an ETH fanboy in 2017

I’ve got a 1,000 I’d be willing to put on Bitcoin and see what happens. I have no idea how it works really - different wallets, etc.

What’s the most basic and secure setup I can use to invest and hold?

Easiest - get a Coinbase acct and buy btc there

Coinbase is the easiest and most convenient.... Others have had issues with it but I've never had a problem with it.

secure setup

Coinbase has a "vault" which has two-step verification, ( use an authenticator app ), plus requires a 2nd email verification and a 48-hour delay on funds withdrawn.

They claim to hold 98% of their coins in cold storage and have insurance to cover the rest. The insurance only covers their system getting hacked; not your passcode or something like that.

ETA: Also, any cash you hold on your Coinbase account is FDIC insured. So once you sell crypto, your cash is insured before the transaction (in United States Dollars) to your bank account is complete.

I waited until January to trade my ETH for BTC due to tax purposes and have gotten killed on the ratio. Still haven’t pulled the trigger yet unfortunately.

You should hold it into the next alt season at this point and sell then

Yeah ETH hasn’t made it run yet. BTC is wing bought up faster than it’s mined. RTH is the next large institution HODL

No, Altcoin pumping is just noise scattered ontop of bitcoin. If it werent for all these random un-transparent companies rolling all these random funding tokens, I think btc would be even higher by now but these other coins make the space uncertain and scary.

If you have to ask, just worry about btc, that's what I'm saying to anyone that asks me anything about crypto.

No but there will be one and it will be ferocious. We just had an epic one this summer
