Anyway I bought puts on this thing last week and they’re doing pretty well. It might turn out that Hindenburg and Citron are bullshitting. But the stock will plummet for a while and I’ll make money

Alright, all I want to know is what kind of Ferrari or Porsche are you shopping for? I say go with a 911 GT3.

Seriously, have you closed these out yet or still riding the wave? Excellent call. Great score.

You'd think so, and maybe it will. But it's up 19% on the day right now. It's a schizophrenic and hard to predict company and stock. But for the crazy brave, it appears to be a long/short daytrader's dream date (could be Lorena Bobbit on some days though).

I'm still selling far OTM options because the premiums are outrageous, based on the outrageous IV.

Nikola talks up hydrogen potential

Nikola (NASDAQ:NKLA) showed off its prototypes to the hydrogen yesterday at an event that also covered the company's patents and strategy to be a technology integrator.

The presentation coincided with National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day 2020. Nikola noted it has developed core IP related to, among other things, vehicle integration and hydrogen storage and fueling, and continues to work with its world-class partners to develop next-generation standard fueling hardware and advance hydrogen fuel cell-based transportation.

"Nikola is creating an ecosystem that integrates next-generation truck technology, hydrogen fueling infrastructure and maintenance. By removing commercial trucks from the carbon equation, Nikola is fulfilling our mission of leaving the world a better place," said CEO Mark Russell.

Shares of Nikola are up 2% premarket

I meant in real time, not forever, and it dropped approximately 10% after I posted that. The damage has been done to this company. I’d expect a range trade for a while, but I really have my doubts about the company. Too risky for me.

Hope others make money. Do not understand the thought process of hoping others lose money, but it seems real on this board since Covid.

I’ve lost about 200 on this buy. Spent about 500. Is worth cutting ties or you think it’ll go back up? Bought at 41.

I would think you’d get a bump back there. Depends on GM deal finalizing and rebuilding confidence in the brand

Sorry, you said you were selling premium, so I was curious if you were selling naked calls and puts, or if you were selling a combination of spreads (selling condors).

Yeah, here lately I've been selling naked puts on NKLA + PLUG (or WKHS + PLUG - most weeks I'll pair PLUG with one of the EV makers). It's got outrageous IV (though the IV rank has dropped off recently) that especially shows itself on the put side because of the headline risk.

I haven't done a strangle or naked calls lately, just because the upside risk is more than I want with this crazy thing. And I haven't done any iron condors because buying the protective outer wings for two spreads is too pricey - and it's a lower priced stock that I could afford to have put to me without killing my buying power. So with that said, if I did any dual side strategies, I'd probably look at a jade lizard (sell a naked put below and sell a call spread above). Just make sure that your total credit equals or exceeds the width of your call spread and you'll have no upside risk.

I'm not totally afraid to have it put to me (at the right price), but I'd be looking to sell a covered call against it immediately. It's too schizo for me to want to own it longer term. I'm kind of doing the same thing with WKHS. I'll stay away from both of them when earnings approach though.

Are you playing these on the short (or long) options?

I gotcha. Same here. And although I don’t want to see anybody lose money, I’m just in these types of stocks for trading opportunities, typically on the option side. But there have been several times when I’ve had the other side of a trade (bullish vs. bearish or vice versa) from some people here and we’ve both made money. Since what I do is based on range probabilities, a positive outcome is possible for both trades.

But yeah, this one is risky. And it’s that high IV that draws me in... like a moth to a flame.
