BB88 — If you don’t mind me asking, what is the rationale for holding the longer dated calls? If we are bullish in the short term, it seems the higher premiums and theta decay would cut into profits. What am I missing?

My rationale would be that it gives me a hedge against short term crashes, like we had a couple of weeks ago.
I believe this stock is going to the moon, but I don't know exactly when, so I have some calls for Feb/March, and am going to start buying May. I am making my calls based on expected earnings reports (1st week of Feb and May). I expect to have multiple chances to make profits off these options as we get closer to the expiration dates. I have February calls that are up %120 right now, and I bought them on October 23rd.
If there was a catastrophic event, like 9/11 or a Presidential assassination, I don't want to get caught with all my eggs in the short term calls basket. I want time to recover.
I will still have short term options, but as I grow my account, I will invest a smaller and smaller percentage in short term and more on long term.

I have to be more disciplined on my option strategy for what’s short vs long term. It’s really tough for me to look at 100% returns on these when we hit $140 before (sold) a then late Friday (sold again). Bird in hand and all that but I’m learning as I go.
Now I’m sitting on cash and shares hoping for a reentry under $130 some time next week. Prior history would suggest I’ll get my chance but who knows. If so, I think I’m going 20% Nov 21 for earnings and then the rest will be Jan + for long term.

I have looked at this site and board for a long time, but finally decided to make an account because of this thread. I have made a lot of money on NBIS shares and options.
I have also recommended NBIS to many people in my family, so now they are asking me what they should invest in next. LOL I just relay information I am reading in this thread and from MV Cunha.
I started really trading options because of BB88, IT, and Jax confidence in this thread, so thanks. Last earnings date was a really good day for me so hopefully this one is too.
Lastly, the question. Thinking of buying some weekly options this week for USAR and MP since they report earnings on 11/6. What are y’all expecting from those on the earnings calls? Just updates on mine status and maybe guidance on profitability? If all goes according to plan, take profits from USAR and MP then roll them up into more NBIS options before earnings.

This thread has been very good to my portfolio. I got serious with shares beginning of May and started really increasing total in Sept. Started with options middle of Sept because of BB88, IT and Jax. As of yesterday up 31% on calls (20K) added to my IRA and 74% on shares. Thanks for guiding me as I learn options.

This is what I said about that post yesterday morning. I absolutely loved it.

I played 11/7 135s quite well yesterday.
I also converted more than 1,000 shares to those call options that I listed.
There won’t be much decay at all with those that selected. It’s still a super bullish strategy. With the prices that I think can be achieved in the next few months $200-220, those options can double or triple in value according to optionstrat.
I don’t see profits getting eaten up.
I want to be slightly more hands off and not have to manage as much since I am fortunate enough to have made it out of the recent dip.
Think about it…my Roth IRA went down 70% since its highs in a week or two.
I’m being defensive with the longer dated calls, while still being way more aggressive than the average investor.
Here’s the visual to bring the point home.
Notice that the dip took me below the Microsoft deal pop! But we’re back baby!!!

I like the idea as I just bought quite a few options in PPTA yesterday.

Navigating options this year with NBIS has truly made it like second nature for me. The real life practice has made me a better trader.
Do not underestimate the power of knowing how a certain equity behaves.
It makes all decisions simpler, and often more rewarding.

BTW, I’m currently in a deep dive in LMND. Looking for next core position.
Currently hold four LEAPS (01/27).

Thank you all for your feedback. This is good stuff. I will try to experiment with some longer dated calls.

Absolutely! I’ll try my best to hold onto these and then I’ll share how and when I roll them up and out.
