I have a friend that is a pipe line welder/supervisor and that guy is busy as can be. He no sooner finishes a pipe line in one place than he is off to another. The company he is working for now is installing a line under the Miss River that follows the course of the river. He is based out of St Louis now and has been gone since the spring but will be back for Thanksgiving and Xmas holidays. He makes big bucks for a guy with a hs education...take home pay about 250K yr...might be worth considering if you are a qualified welder and unemployed. Not for the faint of heart.

What is the major reason that keeps nat gas from becoming a better fuel source for vehicles?
nothing, they just need to build the damn cars, and stations

what will they do about the lower pressures?
Your choice is to shut in the well, or set up compressors...
ETA: Compressor stations usually aren't set up for one well...they are set for several wells and large fields.

Doesn't surprise me. New pipeline for shale gas is going to be absolutely vital. Also, there will still be plenty of drilling as the shale players have to punch at least one hole per section just to hold their leases by production, else they will be forced to re-lease starting in about 18 months when the first big wave of HS leases expire.

I dunno, they're everywhere in India--albeit on much smaller rides, tho can't think of any reason why it isn't scalable?

because obama completely overlooked this in his big 'alternative green energies' agenda. its as stupid as can be; no lets try & use cow poop and corn fields and the sun instead of a great clean burning energy source the US has in spades right now.
more 'future vision' from the chosen one.

If you used a CNG vehicle your gallon equivalent for natural gas would cost $0.35/gallon right now. You could travel 250 miles on around $8.00.

Not good for Louisiana and the gulf. MOst of the drilling is natural gas.
Good for all the plants that use natural gas as base stock and primary fuel for reformers. The company I work for uses 300 million + cubic feet a day.
Good for consumers of electricity delivered by natural gas fired plants.
Bad for the drilling industry.

not sure if you know this, but the legislative branch actually writes legislation. the Senate will push for more incentives/benefits to drill shale gas, i know this to be true---have contacts w/in the senate.

For what its worth the City of Shreveport is working to move to cng city vehichles at some point soon. They I understand are working with local chamber of commerce to push for incentives for fill stations to hopefully increase demand. I know meetings have taken place within the last few weeks.
Rivers what ever happened to our HS in Plain Dealing thread. I hear some activity taking place across the line and the river?

Right now. Three years ago, hell, one year ago it was ungodly high. NG is hard to move around the globe, and prices can whipsaw hard when supply and demand get funny.

thats low. it needs to go up to around 6-7 dollars for the evil oil companies to make a little bit of money.

it could easily go down to 2.25 to 2.50 by october. If I had deep pockets I would load the boat long NG at that point though...

I predict it will be under $4 for at least the next 3 years. Any takers?
