Signed up in June & had insurance through my spouse but it still seems high. Anyone know the best source to get some advice on Medicare Advantage plans that may be cheaper or better for my situation. Thanks.

If you are looking for the best coverage, stay away from Advantage plans. It's a lot better to stay with regular Medicare and get a Supplement.

I encourage you to take 30 minutes and watch this tutorial.
As mentioned, Supplement plans are more flexible than Advantage plans.

I have many. friends and family that signed up for advantage plans because of the savings. Everything is fine as long as they were pretty healthy but most of them regret it as they age and have more medical problems. I got a supplement and have no regrets.

Advantage plans are a scam. Avoid them like the plague.

Don’t do it!!! You will regret it!!! They take your money and “manage” your plan all right. You will be told who you can see and the physicians will be told not to order the tests and services they recommend for you bc they won’t be paid. People think Medicare advantage plans are wonderful but they are so wrong. It’s crazy when you overhear someone saying “I have Humana. Humana Gold” like it’s a good thing.
Stay with Medicare and keep your red white and blue card. Your body and your health will thank you for it!!

Advantage plans are fine, but don’t try to use them….You will be battling the Hospitals, cause the plan will deny every admission, and the Hospital will bill you ….

I can tell you that we have had residents come to the facility for short term rehab and Medicare advantage was awful for them.

I understand it’s less expensive but you get what you pay for.

Not just hospitals. You can't cross state lines to go to a specialist. So if you live in Slidell and the closest is in Waveland you might still have to go to Baton Rouge.

Straight Medicare allows a lot more HH visits and has a lot more providers in network.

I've worked in healthcare finance for most of my career and I really don't think I would seriously consider Medicare Advantage, at least not in my area.

The reimbursement rates are pretty awful in a lot of places and various pockets of healthcare (particularly home health) won't take in very many MA patients (if any).

I become eligible next year. I'm gonna stick with the traditional supplement probably Blue Cross. From what I can tell the Advantage plans pay for peanuts but not the big stuff.

Shop around, supplemental plans are the same regardless of insurance company but premiums are different.

I am sorry and surprised to hear the negative comments about the advantage plans. My wife and I will both turn 65 in the near future and we just signed up for HumanaGold.
It came highly recommend to us by a number of people.

They sell those plans and make them sound so great, but they are basically Cancer to the entire system.

This is a pretty good article that talks about pros/cons of Medicare Advantage vs traditional Medicare.

They spend lots of much money on marketing to make it seem that way. Just don't get suckered in. You'll regret it.

MA plans only exist because they are subsidized by Medicare to shift risk to the insurance companies. Medicare pays them $1,000s per member annually.

Whatever you do, as far as your part d plans for prescription goes… make sure you have all your meds for you and your wife in order and make sure you get a plan where everything is covered

SOOOOO many times people sign up for the cheapest plan and don’t dig any at all only to find out their meds aren’t covered or are in a different tier where their copay is significantly higher than it was

Make sure you’re aware of your deductible and donut hole parameters
