Going from $250/yr to $325. But hey, at least you get some free coffee I guess.

Amex seems to be moving towards being a coupon book instead of having broader reward categories. I'm not liking the trend and will definitely cancel the platinum next year. Might keep the gold even with the increase because most of my purchases are currently food related.

Yea, 2 primary increases.

$7/month at Dunkin Donuts
$50 twice a year at any Resy restaurant split between 1H and 2H of the calendar year

IMO the Resy one is the best one they have provided.

I still use my $10/m on Grubhub and $10/m on Uber Eats, so I'll add these two to the rotation to maximize my benefits.

My renewal just passed the first week of July, so I have 11 months to use these, but I do think I'll drop to Blue Cash Preferred next summer.

If you use all of the benefits it still more than pays for itself. Plus the number of transfer partners for travel if used correctly yields great rewards.

Better not jack up platinum again... I'm making out great thanks to work travel and the 5xs, but much higher and I'd ditch.

I have the Gold but haven’t received this notification yet. When did they inform you the increase was occurring?

About 4 weeks ago, British Air delayed our flight for “weather” in London which caused us to miss our connection from LHR - CLT. BA had no recourse for us and said “we’ll call you tomorrow.” The line to talk to someone was literally 4 hours long and I could already see there wasn’t an available flight till 2 days later out of london.

I called the Amex travel team with my platinum card and they got me on a delta flight the next morning within 5 minutes of searching. Now that flight was $6k (for peasant seats in row 49 I might add) but I was told not to worry since the card included travel protection.

I’ll gladly pay that Amex fee after that.

I read the price increase goes into effect for everyone after October, and that means anyone renewing before the end of October can take advantage of these new benefits without being charged for them.

My renewal just passed at the $250 a few weeks ago and I get the new benefits before my next renewal, which is nice.

increased fee for a couple cups of coffee per month would be pretty lame. I have no idea what Resy is though so maybe it wouldn't be too bad

Resy is a reservation platform like Open Table.

The good news is you don't have to use Resy to get the Resy credit. You just have to use the Amex Gold at a restaurant that is on the platform. Thankfully we have a place we routinely go to 10 minutes from the house that we can use this on.

I don't go to Dunkin', but I downloaded the app and am adding the $7 to my account every month anyway. I'm not letting Amex get away with the breakage

went to Dunkin' for the first time in my life today. Small iced black coffee and a 10 count of donut holes for my kid was $7 and change.

New monthly stop added to the rotation.

Every time Chase adds some nonsense to my CSR, my immediate reaction is "great, something else to keep track of..."

That's what I have and was considering a gold at some point. I max out the 6% grocery store cash back on the Preferred pretty quick.

I'd have to run the numbers and see if it's worth it for the higher fee.
