I get the whole “scale down your lifestyle” talk. And while it’s true, people like me who did things the right way (worked hard, saved up) are really getting screwed. My wife and I had house plans forever that we had priced in the 3-4% rate era. We budgeted and saved to be able to get to where we needed to be to afford this house. Just as we were about able to build the rates started going up. 3 years of saving and planning went out the window because we could no longer afford the house with the higher rate. So when people say “scale down” it’s not the entire picture. It’s not simply a “scale down” issue because a house we could have afforded suddenly became unaffordable because rates changed. We essentially got “punished” because we missed the low rates boat. Not because we were trying to live above our means.

Yea I get it.
Sucks for people in your situation.
And I feel you….timing sucks.
But lemme ask… how much were you planning on financing ?
That was more points at people who are mortgaging 700/800k…. Like there is. I need for that size house .

Somewhere between 4-5% seems to be the average lately. Guessing we are heading that directions but probably another year out
