I was always interested in those Bitcoin discussions more as a theoretical question about monetary policy and the regulation of financial crimes and cross-border capital controls, rather than as a practical investment. So I was always cool to the speculative aspect of things.

That being said, I remember some of those old threads from years back, and the Money Talk mob that made fun of WikiTiger acted like such complete morons. It's hilarious to reflect back upon it now and think about all the many dumb things that were said ("Ponzi scheme!") and thrown his way.

I gotta say, it would sorta seem like justice for him to get rich off that stuff.

I think you confuse the arguments. Hardly, if any, put serious effort in saying he couldn't make money as it was just as volatile then as it is now; just higher volumes.

The problem then still exists today, I can ask 10 people about bitcoin and get 10 different answers.

I can go to 10 different transaction sites and get 10 different processes.

Sure, I get this spill about "deregulation" but that does nothing for the day-to-day consumer arguements that were mostly had.

It is a cool technology but has yet to be made practical.

Even now no one can clearly say what it is or why the price increases of falls. They look at ceilings as their gauge.

I remember the thread on the OT where he was pimping it at 50 a share but he already had X amount of shares at that point as well.

Now if he sat on those shares then sure he is loaded, like 70 million or so...

Maybe, but he and Russian got into it a lot. One of the main points, that still holds true today, is that everyone still cashes out for US dollars.

Wiki was famous for saying it would revolutionize the world. Yet, even the people here keep talking about US $$ made. Not a revolution.

The other point he would always make was decentralization. He said these words a lot, but never offered meat behind them. When challenged for more thought behind why decentralization was revolutionary with bitcoin, he often told us we were too dumb to understand the "tech".

The funny thing is, it really took off in price when China and Japan added "regulations" and started treating it like it is part of the banking system.

Imagine that, legislation attributed to its value...

The biggest thing about bitcoin is that it brought blockchain technology to the forefront. Blockchain is a revolutionary technology that will permeate all aspects of life....and it really gained traction through crypto currency.

You are saying blockchain was a common discussion in 2013? I’m calling BS on that one. Maybe it was within niche technical communities but it did not emerge as a mainstream trend with broad application until quite recently.
