I would like to work in the public library ( maybe school) then rise up to be the director.
This is just one of the career paths I was thinking of.

Also, i wanted to do college life again. I never had roomates , hookups with chicks, and fun stories. I want to meet all kinds new people and be like Van wilder. Yes, i want to party more and go to exchanges/grubs/formals.

You'd be lucky to get a 12 dollar an hour library job with a Master's in Library Science.

You obviously didn't have those experiences for a reason. You're probably very introverted like I am. That alone is a terrible reason to get a worthless degree. Build yourself up, make yourself desirable, and you'll have more success with women than you would by doing college again.

Getting paid and doing whatever the hell you feel like outside of work hours makes it worth it.

If you do want to go back for another degree, library science sure as hell shouldn't be it.

Setting aside your desire to party like an undergraduate....addressing your desire to pursue library science: it's an interesting career niche. Every parish and county in the USA has a public library, usually employing multiple people with MLS/MLis degrees. Even in crappy LA, the director of a public library system makes 60-125K, depending on the population/size of the library system. There's also the realm of academic librarianship, i.e., all of those MLS degree holders who staff university & college libraries all over the USA. Throw in specialized libraries--academic medical center libraries, large law firm libraries, etc. All of those folks are paid, on average, better than public librarians.

If you are really curious, like learning new things, like chasing down information, are good with technology, and organized....then maybe libraries are a good career option. You can also earn an MLS entirely online/thru distance ed. So if you decide that a campus experience re-do is NOT for you, you can become a librarian without relocating.

I was on the periphery of those things for probably similar reasons of not being a social butterfly.

I can tell you this though: never saw a library science major in his 30s in the center stage of these events.

Sorry on the early impending mid life crisis, bro.

My wife has her masters in library science. She worked in the public library for about a year but she's been a school librarian for a while now, and also teaches a couple of classes. She has her undergrad in secondary ed

I'd imagine you can get your library science degree and party your arse off at the same time. Probably doesn't take much work.

However I have concerns about your weird mid life crisis you've been having all over TD. You're gonna scare off any girl you actually meet.

Also you need to lower your standards. You sound like you've never had your dick touched, and yet you're saying you want to go party with sorority girls. You need to start slow man and get used to being around women

Not sure about public libraries.

But being the school librarian is a pretty sweet gig if you can get it. That's insanely difficult to do though. Those jobs rarely open up and each school has on average two librarians working full time.

A friend of mine does work at a public library in the evenings a few days a week because she got her library science degree and couldn't find a full time job. She's an editor for a magazine in the mornings.

You will need a master's degree to get a legit job in that field, but the pay isn't bad. Average librarian salary is around 57K.

Average pay with a Masters degree is $57k and you're saying that isn't bad? That wouldn't be bad for an undergrad degree, but IMO if you're getting a graduate degree you should have a realistic earning path to six figures. You're investing substantial time, energy, and money into that program.

I'm not sure how much time and energy goes into getting a masters degree in library science, and I don't think 57K is bad considering you are working in a library, and after 25 years you get a pension for the rest of your life.

Was at wedding for my wife's side of the family her cousin is librarian, in her late 40s. She is a librarian in Indiana, my wife said I thought you worked in Chicago. Her cousin said I already got my years in that system, I'm working on pension #two. Her Chicago pension will starts when he turns 55, by the time she is 67, she will have two pensions checks.
