At 40 years old... it’s been such a burden, but I did it. I’m totally debt-free. I wish this peace for all of you.

It's really liberating. Congratulations, that's a great accomplishment.

Very nice, mid 30's here and almost have both our newer cars paid off with only a mortgage for debt. Can't wait for that last payment in a year or so. Just so happens my wife and I have our payments ending within a 6 month time frame so that will be a nice chunk to put towards the house and other expenditures. Congrats, OldHickory! Probably won't be debt free here until late 40's.

Good to see it’s a goal for some people. Others seem to be resigned no a lifetime of debt. Congrats. Welcome to the club.

Congratulations! I recently paid off the last of my remaining debt with the exception of my house. It's an amazing feeling and I can't imagine what it must feel like to be mortgage-free. I'd love to know how that feels in the next 10 years!

Congrats!!

Have been debt free expect for mortgage for a few years. At 3.5% interest and each of us having stable jobs we are in no hurry to pay off the house, but that note may go away in a couple years also, have not decided yet.

Congratulations! I'm jealous. We still have a student loan that is more than our mortgage. Just a few more years.

Just to give you some insight. I am totally debt free. Paid off the house about 10 years ago. I am 59 now. I have saved more money in my 50’s than I have the rest of my life. Hope you younger guys get to this point sooner than I did.

Time to cash out that mortgage at 3.5% and get that money working for you.

For me, yes. But I'm building now and will have a small mortgage when finished.

Nice!

I’m 39 and have been debt free, other than a mortgage and student loan for a long time.

My student loan is 1.2% and mortgage 3.2%. Both vehicles are paid off and we are about to buy a new one but will likely pay cash unless they offer zero percent interest or close to it. The beach house has been paid off thanks to the last Florida boom and bust.

I’m in no rush to pay off the student loan and have a 15 year on the house which should be paid off right about the time we will sell and downsize.

My business has debt but that’s a different animal than personal debt.

It depends on whether you are a guarantor or not.
