MSFT is up 20x from the mid-2000s
I know

It went through a period of consolidation and minimal stock appreciation for essentially 12 years from 2001-2013 though. It was still the second largest stock in the world in 2004 post dot com bubble, and it stayed around there most of that time, but it couldn’t match the revenue and earnings growth it experienced in the 1990s again until the 2010s.
I’m not remotely saying NVDA is going anywhere, and I’m long NVDA and overweight to it, but I believe it will have some growing pains that come with lapping 50% annualized EPS growth over the last decade.

For my sake I hope it goes to infinity. I have 6 figures invested in NVIDIA

NVDA’s “problem” going forward will be their earnings growth lapping more and more profitable quarters. I’m sure it will double in price over time, but their growth will slow and the question will become how much the market is willing to pay up for that slowing growth rate.
I think it will soon - like next two years - run into the problems that Microsoft faced in the mid 2000s and Apple has today which is the fact they’re one of the largest companies in the world and growth on that base becomes more difficult.
I tend to agree with you. What’s your conservative market valuation for NVIDIA in the long run?

The difference is NVIDIA is hardware company, Microsoft is primarily software. They can only ride this wave for so long but I think it’s a pretty big wave.

Broad market like performance from here would put it in the 3 trillion dollar club in a few years. I’d be pretty content with that frankly.
I think it can do better given its lead, but I’m not remotely expecting another run like the last 15 years.

I know it sounds blasphemous today but MSFT was dead money and a dividend stock at best for more than half of the last 24 years.

They'll announce a 4:1 split this year. And will be back to 1200 in 5 years.

That would make them a $10 trillion company.

100% agree. Nvda may very well remain an industry leader, but the stock will have to eventually cool off. I am long on it, but will temper expectations going forward. Will stay in it as long as it feels like a safe bet to beat the market.

bump for quarterly earnings released today. Let's rock fellas

Posted on 5/22/24 at 7:46 am to Granola
Thanks for the bump
I haven’t been this excited for an earnings report since Qualcomm back in the 90’s when I was sitting on 400% profit on a 5,000 investment which I thought was about as good as it could get… it kept going…
I watched cnbc yesterday and they reported mostly positives. Demand is strong, projections are strong, analysts are bullish…
I just have a feeling that there’s no way they can match the projections and there’ll be selling pressure today and tomorrow no matter what.

And NVDA unintentionally hit the jackpot with the emergence of AI computing needs. Still, I am heavily invested no matter how tonight's news affects NVDA's stock price.
