Nobody knows and probably will never know. Here's the real question.. if Adam Aron's statement is accurate that the retail investor holds over 80% of the shares but Fidelity, Fintel, etc are all reporting Institutional Shares at over 25% with another 5+% for Insiders. You start the math on that and you know that its in the tens to 100+M more shares "owned" than that was issued. Now Ortex reports yesterday afternoon that, based on the new "official" short interest that was reported at the end of May, there current numbers have been low... adjusted estimates coming today.

All this really means is there is some F@CKED UP stuff going on and its not accidental. If you found out your wife had been whoring around, would it really matter if if was 10 guys or 30? Not to me, it matters that she is a whore. Same thing here, the short interest is underestimated and there are more shares "owned" than issued. This creates an a$$ load of problems...

Instead of fighting about the misquoted or misstatements, we should be more concerned about the corruption because you damn well know that if this dirty $hit is going on with AMC is probably going on in other stocks as well.

Fintel can’t really be trusted FYI. Their information is way outdated.

As for the fricked up math, I can’t think of a single reason that Aron would hide the “fact” that more shares are owned than are issued. If you had the data to shine the light on naked shorts that have been trying to destroy your company stock, why on earth would you deliver that message in such a convoluted way?

I think the most likely answer is that all the cryptic BS is simply to feed into the ape mentality for as long as possible. If he came out and said there were no synthetic shares, the stock would plummet, so he has to beat around the bush and give them just enough to keep them on the hook. The man really is a genius.
