Help: Scammed by Ecom Automation Service

Someone who I thought I could trust was selling Ecom automation services so I bought in.
The initial buy was 10k and I gave them a budget of 5k per month to purchase inventory. The first few months they bought a bunch of skin care products that can’t be sold on my Amazon store. The total of the unsellable inventory is 12k.
They keep saying they’ll move it etc but want me to allow them to continue buying product which I won’t do until the original inventory is sold.
All in I’m down 22k which sucks and I realize it was a stupid idea to begin with. My question is what type of legal recourse do I have since I received a cease and desist letter mandating that I remove the skin care product from my store?
Can anyone point me in the direction of the appropriate attorney to work on this?

Legal recourse against your partner who bought goods? Did you sign a contract?

Yes to both
I’m hoping that since it wasn’t an item that can be resold, it would help my case.
Would love to have an attorney read through the contract but I’m not sure who would be the best type to contact.

That sucks man. Depending on the contract you might not have much recourse. I have seen some offer "if you don't profit X dollars in 90 days we'll refund all your money" but I've never read the contract language.
This very might fall into a "buyer beware" situation where they just didn't perform well / Amazon banned your store or item and the "automation company" doesn't hold themselves responsible for that.

If you do a google search for “Amazon Automation scam Reddit” you’ll find several stories like your own. Many of them have felt scammed or slighted, and a few seem to discuss pursing legal recourse and might give you better advice.
Unless there is language in your agreement that guaranteed income or results this will most likely be viewed as a business that failed and there isn’t any legal ramification for that.

Stop all contact with person, throw that useless shite away. Stop trying to make money doing nothing, that's not how people get rich.

there is a million of those ecom and FBA guys out there saying they will setup a store and do it all for you.
you might be better off starting your own store and just buy products that sell like one guy teaches. a bunch of those want 35k to 60k to do it all for you. there is no way to know what is legit or not.

If they were legit, they would do it for them selves. Like it's pretty common sense, these are absolutely not legit.

NO. PLENTy ARE legit and make money online.
i mean the ones saying they can do it for you.......
you have to research which ones of those are legit.

Appreciate your insight. Luckily I’m in a spot where it won’t really hurt. It’s more aggravating to know it will continue to go on

Might cost you 22K to sue them
Can you get the inventory and sell somewhere else? I’m sure it has some value?

When you say "continue to go on" you do mean "continue scamming other people" and not "continue to steal your money" correct?

Correct, they aren’t getting anymore of my money

Been scammed before. It sucks. Youre not the first or only. Sorry man.

I still don’t understand what this “business” is about.

What they do is source products that are profitable to sell on Amazon after all the fees etc.
You pay them a startup fee and provide the capital for inventory and there is a predetermined profit split. It’s not really automated with the exception of the algorithm used to locate products.
There’s a large amount of work that goes into “ungating” products which they do in theory.
Selling on Amazon isn’t as simple as finding something for $15 and selling it for $20. Obviously I’m not an expert but that’s what I’ve gathered.
