Has anyone hear pressed charges for indentity fraud?

I received a letter from a collection company to my address, but in the name or a person that owes their past tv service provider money.
I filed a identity theft . gov report, called the collections agency about it and will file a police report today.
I would like to press charges against this person, but want to know my options.

I know it might come off as flippant, but that’s literally the extent of your options. If the DA doesn’t pick up the charges, you can start calling and harassing them about it, but you’re not at that stage yet.

Unfortunately just file report, dispute and put a lock on all of your shite.
Had a similar situation a few years ago. Someone opened an online bank acct with Ally, using all of my wifes info. I did my own detective work and traced it back to a "square" card reader transaction at the NSU book store.
fricking crickets from the cops. I now have a verbal/written password on my bank acct and have the Life Lock monitoring for all other things.

Is this identify theft, or did they just use your address (mistake or on purpose)? Did you actually open the letter to see what the charges were for since it came to your address? I would have opened it, and if none of my personal info was involved, except street address, would just check my credit reports and trash it. Next letter would get sent back to collection company unopened with "no one by that name at address" written across envelope.
If on my credit report, or other personal info involved, I would reach out to the collections company ASAP to report it to them, file the necessary forms with the credit agency, and file a police report. From there, once it's off my credit report; nothing more I can do

It was address to the other person, but sent to my home address.
Its been on my credit report 1 year under collections and I have been having issues figuring out where it came from until this letter came in.

That’s crazy. Someone else’s bill is sent to your credit report. I didn’t think that was possible. Damn scammers man

I have not herd of anyone doing this. I'm assuming you'd have to be able to at least know who the person is as starters. I think it would be easier if it was something bought in person, and the salesman can testify to who it is. In your case, I'm thinking the person set it up over the phone.

Pretty typical for these kinds of cases. You can solve the case yourself and hand the evidence to the cops on a silver platter, and they are unlikely to do anything.

If I read your post correctly you haven't contacted the three credit reporting agencies. You need to file a dispute with each so this doesn't hit oyur credit.
Your options are limited. Generally the aggrieved party is the party that lost money (payment) and that isn't you.
