Holy shite! They are down to $187 today. Market cap of $510B. Bargain basement P/E of only 13.6.

It wasn't too long ago that FB was only $50-100B behind Google in market cap. Today Google is 3 times as large at $1.6T.

Boatload of name companies with stocks that are down 50 to 80% within the last 6 months. Looks like some are completely crashed and still falling lower every week, if not daily.

What’s causing their drop? Fewer Boomers using it?

Facebook parent Meta occupies the lane in the AI race dedicated to scaling data and computing power. Deep learning is a form of AI designed to mimic aspects of human neurons. It took off in 2010 when the ImageNet project proved it was possible to use two GPUs developed by Nvidia to train a large AI model to recognize labeled images, said Kyunghyun Cho, a co-founder of the startup Prescient Design and an associate professor of computer and data science at New York University.

Meta said its AI Research SuperCluster houses 6,080 Nvidia GPUs at present, a number that will rise to 16,000. The computing power will be used for language-processing and computer-vision research, with an eye toward creating the immersive world the company calls the metaverse, said Shubho Sengupta, a software engineer involved in the project.

The supercomputer will help Meta researchers build AI models that can work across hundreds of languages, analyze text, images and video together, and develop augmented-reality tools and rich, multidimensional experiences in the metaverse, the company said. The technology also will help it more easily identify harmful content, Meta said.

This is from the WSJ. I know it’s an in thing to shite on Facebook right now, and there are lots of legit reasons to do it, but if you don’t think this stock isn’t a steal right now, you’re crazy.

I do think that FB will lose that battle but the article sold me on their AI technology. Hopefully they can spin the failure of the Metaverse into something productive.

MSFT is the tech company that I'm waiting to see when it craters b/c they just keep chugging along.

Yeah, I agree. If not for FB and Comey, there is no way Trump becomes President.

Pfft. FB has gone from $384 to $194 in 6 months. Enron went from $90.75 to 12 cents per share in 16 months.

I can tell you that I bought Boeing at $382 in March 2019 and bought it again at $98 in March 2020.
