Do you always invest without knowing what you are buying?

ETH and BTC aren’t competing in the same part of the crypto space.

80% of defi is currently on ETH. That could go to 0 tomorrow. Or not.

It was a small investment, apart if 15 other crypto investments, so I am not that worried about it.

With the majority of Defi projects running on Ethereum, I think you made a good choice. With the new NFT craze going on right now, Ethereum will be the big winner in that as well. Dollar cost averaging is your friend. Buy the dips and HODL.

Well, Ross said they aren’t the same either.

You really don’t think they are competing for the same dollar from the overwhelming majority of investors? I think people are accepting crypto as an asset class essential for diversification, but they limiting their exposure in crypto overall meaning they will set aside a specific amount for crypto rather than considering certain types of crypto to be different classes amongst themselves. To me they are competing, just different avenues.

one has a finite supply that's never changed. the other changes their monetary issuance protocol every other year it seems, and I'm not even sure if the real circulating supply can ever be audited at this point

for now, bitcoin is clearly the better money.

Ethereum is better tech (but there are a lot of competitors in the tech/defi space: bnb, ada, xrp, dot, etc)

Write down who is telling you this then never listen to them again.

I understand they are drastically different. I just think they are competing for the same investor dollars in the overall crypto space. Meaning the average investor is looking to diversify a certain amount of her/his portfolio into crypto. Within that set amount of money they will then choose between ETH, BTC, others or a combination. From that standpoint I think they are competitors (with one appearing to be substantially better than the other at this stage). I could certainly be wrong.
