They only overstated job numbers >800,000 last year. But I guess that was "good enough for government work," as the old saying goes?
With all this "new realization," at least we can rest assured that the FOMC remains staunchly "data driven."

I had to use the BLS data for work, and I can say the eggheads over there do an amazing job. Job numbers aren’t rigged by either party.

Fwiw- not all inflation data comes from the government
The large international banks, and many super regionals have their own statistical data. Insurance companies have their data.
And then there are think tanks, research institutions, and universities that have their data.
