Got married last year. Already filed taxes jointly for 2020 and received our federal income tax check on 3/2 month. Our income was less than $150,000 so I’m thinking we get the $2,800, but when I check our bank account, we only got $1,400. Do they send them out separately regardless if your married or not?

At least you got something. Everyone I know has theirs already and I don't have shite yet. Got my federal refund this morning so I know they have my info.

I’d imagine they’re using 2019 data and bank accounts for these first week checks. Did your spouse qualify for the previous checks? Her money may be in that account too.

what's weird is that they put the $1400 in our new joint account. the same one we used to file our 2020 taxes. for 2019, we used our own separate accounts because we weren't married at the time. the first 2 checks were put into our own separate checking accounts.

Could it be that they're pulling AGI from one database (in his case the latest filing hasn't kicked in) and bank info from another (that's kicked based in his 2020 refund)?

In any case, OP you'll be made whole one way or another. Might just be in 2022

My wife does our taxes and we got our stim direct deposit into her bank acct which is the same we received a tax refund in. No separate deposits

That's not supposed to happen, but it's possible that since you filed jointly in 2020 and not 2019, something might have gotten messed up.

The IRS is a bit rushed, you might have heard, and that causes mistakes.

Probably going off your 18 returns since last year was a mess. Did you receive the first check together or separately?

separately. her situation is a little weird.

the first check she got direct deposit.

the second was a physical check mailed to her.

the first 2 for me were direct deposit.
