Now that is an actual CSB. Pretty neat that Mintak called you himself.

Been on vacation, good things.

Usually it takes a month or two for the big brokers to collect enough shares to setup shorting. They have to borrow shares from somewhere to loan to someone to sell. It doesn’t happen overnight

Anyone doing an swing trading on this one the last couple of weeks, or is everyone scared of getting caught with their pants down on the JV?

I am. It's a gamble, but I like gambling.

I've been considering trying this as well as it seems we have some frequent big ups and downs. Maybe a stupid question but how do you swing trade? Do you use a separate account to buy shares to swing? Or if they are in the same account how do you control which shares you are selling when it is time? I've never partly sold something. Is there an option to sell the shares from a certain price point or is a FIFO/LIFO type deal?

I know its anyones preference but how much %gain you are looking for before selling? 20%?

In etrade, you can sell specific tax lots. You can even go back and change the lots for a 2 days after the sale.
Most will default to first in first out though, so if you are saving your long term shares, you will have to specifically sell the new ones. Might be able to change your preferences to sell last in.

Or like me, you just do all the swing trades in a roth ira, so it doesn't matter. I'm on vacation this week. Been swinging the shite out of my roth with sli. Made a few bucks, which were just used to buy more sli and mp, doesn't seem like worth the time to me if you weren't on vacay sitting on the beach. I'm more of a hodler at heart.

ok thanks. My long term shares are in both my ROTH IRA and my TD ameritrade Pretax account. Will look into and might give it a go as I have a little cash sitting there.

If you're in your portfolio, you go to the gains/losses section and you can find the trade and if it's within the last day (not 100% sure if it's 24hrs or 48hrs) there's a "swap lots" option

Sell LIFO

Why would you do that? Shares are shares, and the only difference is how much you're going to pay in capital gains. Why would you choose to pay higher taxes?

Perhaps I'm missing something.

Well if none of your position was long. It would make sense to sell lifo until you had long term shares if you were going to hold it. Because as you say, the tax gain difference is huge between long and short shares, and most people don't think enough about that. That's primarily what I'm trying to do if I'm picking specific lots.....or I have too much gains already on the books and I'm trying to minimize gains until next year or something, and I'm just swapping short shares for short shares that costed more.

I'm doing lifo as well. Keeps my base of long shares long and others getting to long while I swing based on the charts about 6000 shares

Every successful swing I take out original and leave the rest in the kitty. Accumulating nicely. I missed this last swing though.

I don't understand how I'm paying higher taxes. My original shares are Dec. 2020. Just started swinging this stock three weeks ago. It seems to me I should hold the original shares in case I'm still holding past one year. The swing trades are only a day or so. if I start selling off my original shares, I have no chance to hold for a year.

I'm open to suggestions.

My account defaults first in first out

So if you are only swinging a portion of your shares, it will default the the older shares every time being sold. So you will never get long term capital gains until you quit swing trading for a period of time

I'm swinging 1/5 of my shares. If I didbt set up lifo, after 5 swings I reset all of my shares timeline

My default is set for LIFO because I typically swing all or most of my positions. But I never use my original shares to swing with. I simply buy the dips and then sell using LIFO. I also never or rarely average up on my original entry.

I typically don't hold stocks for a year anyways, but this one may be an exception.

It’s been over 2 weeks since the uplist, and they waived that waiting period. But no news since uplist, any speculation about what that’s about. Do we expect something huge before the “30 days”? Otherwise, why would they have needed that…
