Lanxess owns the brine leases (I want to say something like 150,000 acres in South Arkansas) and owns/operates brine wells and pipelines to their facilities. They process it to extract bromine and this leaves the "tailbrine" which they inject back into the ground. Nothing about this is a byproduct of the O&G industry.
Standard Lithium is planning on taking the tailbrine before it's injected back into the ground and extracting lithium from the tailbrine, thus making the tailbrine "cleaner" when it is injected into the ground.

The press release re: the Tetra deal literally says the lithium resource is a waste byproduct of the hydrocarbon extraction of O&G producers.
Maybe the article was worded oddly, but why would they specifically call that out and not say the feed stream would be the tail brine from their own JV partner’s process?

I gotcha. I'm not sure about where Tetra got their brine from. But the main Standard Lithium project is to be onsite at Lanxess, using the Lanxess tail brine. The way I understood it, Tetra is more of "another possible source" to extract lithium from.

Right, I was only referencing the Tetra deal. Not the main operation. I know the bell cow is securely sourced.

I came across this as a recommended video. It gives some insight into the Lithium supply chain. IT sounds like it was hosted by the two Democrat senators which may give some insight into future legislation under Biden.
Interesting takeaways for me were that China only produces about 23% of raw materials for lithium ion batteries but they own the midstream production. Also the supply chain used to span 30,000 miles or so, but with more investment into midstream battery components its moving more stateside. The hardest piece of the puzzle is actually pulling it out of the ground which could be a big pay day for Standard.

Well this may be the hold up on the final steps in processing. I wonder if SL can find someone in the US to do it?

That’s non essential travel. That’s not business travel and most definitely not trade.
I’m sure a tanker can get through.

Should be a good bump, they've proven they can get it faster and cheaper, they have now proven that they are getting it at a higher grade.

From the press release put out today, it does make it sound like the restrictions are an issue....
A montage showing the scale and layout of the SiFT Pilot Plant in Richmond, BC, Canada. The plant is modular and can be easily dismantled for transport to Arkansas when pandemic-related restrictions are eased or lifted.

That looks like great news.

Surprised it’s not gotten more of a bump from that news. Seems worthy of a 10% jump.
Maybe the assumption that they could manufacture is already baked into the price. Not sure how much of an unknown the quality was before; haven’t been following too long.

Thanks now go to page two and look at the ABML thread because I want as many people on the Money Board to go down in flames with me if things don't turn out.

We need a boots on the ground guy over there to tell us what the locals are saying and to check on the construction

It's not getting any business news attention other than here it seems.

I I think we did get a big bump. It was a few weeks ago when the insiders found out the good news before we did
