I think Hyatt can be valuable.

Then I wouldn't downgrade your Preferred. if you downgraded to freedom unlimited or freedom, you'd get cash back, not rewards points.
I was thinking more along the lines of downgrading the card and not using it or just putting $50 on it a month to avoid the $95 annual fee and moving on to a new chase card.

I think you may need to make a decision here. Do you want to accrue rewards points from credit card spend? or do you want to avoid annual fees?
The perks of accruing rewards points tend to outweigh the annual fee, in my opinion. But everyone has to make that determination for themselves.
Because what I'm understanding from what you're typing is that you want to downgrade the Preferred, or get rid of it, to keep from paying the $95 annual fee. But if you downgrade it, you won't accrue rewards points. So downgrading it won't meet your objective if you want to accrue rewards points.
Or am I misunderstanding your question?

I want to continue accruing reward points from credit card spend while also moving on to new credit cards with big sign up bonuses. (sapphire reserve, preferred, ink business, etc..) And continue this cycle every few years.
I plan to churn out multiple business cards and sapphire cards over the years while keeping within the 5\24 rule and continue to get the bonuses.
My question is once I've used a card and gotten a bonus, how do I rid of it without effecting my credit too much. Is it better to just cancel it and move on to another sapphire\business in a year or 2 or is it better to downgrade it to a card i dont use in order to not pay the annual fee.
I will always have atleast 1 card that can acquire rewards points.

Oh, a lot of this depends on which Ink Business card you have. Cash, Unlimited or Preferred? If it's preferred, then you can downgrade your Chase Sapphire Preferred to Chase Freedom Unlimited, and as long as it's tied to your account with the Ink Business Preferred, you can convert your 'cashback' into UR points.
If it's a cash back Ink Business, I don't think you can use a downgraded Preferred to accrue points. And since you have the Sapphire Preferred, if you were to downgrade it to say, the Freedom Unlimited, you would have to wait 24 months before being eligible to receive the 50,000-point sign-up bonus for the Sapphire Reserve. If you don't have the Ink Bus Preferred and you want to accrue Chase UR points more quickly, open the Chase Freedom Unlimited and get 3x points on the first $20,000 you spend, and then 1.5x points thereafter in perpetuity (as long as it's linked to your Sapphire Preferred or Ink Business Preferred, should you have that one).
You can play the game you're talking about with the Citi ThankYou Premier. You could sign up and get the 60,000-point sign-up bonus. The $95 annual fee is waived the first year. So you could sign up for it, get your points, transfer them to an airline, and then close it out prior to the annual fee.
ETA - If you close your Preferred, it might negatively affect your credit. A downgrade would be better, and again, if your Ink Business is a preferred, then downgrading your Sapphire Preferred to Freedom Unlimited would be a good play.

I've got a few CC questions for the board (attempting this without starting a brand new thread and not reading this entire thread).
1. What are the most recommended credit cards for Hilton and Delta rewards?
2. What cards should I consider maximizing rewards for a vacation that will likely cost between $7,500 - $15,000?
Some background, I'm planning a Europe trip for next Spring with my wife, and I would like to capitalize on spending and credit card rewards for the trip. I currently have Chase Freedom and Discover it cards. I also have a 5% cash back card from PenFed on gas purchases. Where I currently live, Delta is the only airline at the nearest airport, and I have most of my travel stays with Hilton hotels.
I'm looking for travel advice from the board as it relates to credit cards. Hilton and Delta are my preferred hotel and airline companies, but I'm wide open for suggestions.

Get the American Express Hilton Card. I think it has a 130k sign up bonus right now. For delta you can try to find one of their cards that has the highest sign up bonus

I’m a big fan of Hyatt points. In some big cities I’ve found boutique hotels and Hyatt House/Place’s in great locations for 12-15k points on busy weekends where they were running $400-500/night.
Not the greatest use of points, but great cash value...I stayed in the Park Hyatt NY for a date weekend with the wife for 30k pts/night when the rate that weekend was $1,150/night. Almost $4/pt at one of the swankiest hotels in NY was definitely worth it.

I just paid the annual fee for my CSP in July, and now I want to apply for the new Ink Business Preferred Card. It’s the same annual fee, so will Chase move the annual fee from one card to the other, or am I out the $95 for my CSP?

Sorry, that question just made me laugh. You have to pay both AFs.

What i’d like to do is cancel the CSP, so i’m Trying to figure out if they will refund/transfer the balance of the AF or if it’s just a sunk cost

25 year old engineer. I currently have a CSP that I've had for about a year now. Took advantage of the signup bonus and now use the the card to the tune of about 2300 per month. Should i be looking at using other cards as well? bill is paid monthly and i have good credit. I don't travel for work. Looking for perks/reasons to use a card. Any advice?
Thanks,
Thanks,

If you're looking to stay in the Chase UR points system, definitely sign up for the business cards. You don't need a business to apply. I'm currently running through my second of the three right now. You'll want to space out the applications at least every 60-90 days to be safe.
Chase Ink Preferred 80k points 5k spend
Chase Ink Unlimited 50k points after 3k spend
Chase Ink Cash 50k points after 3k spend
Below is my previous post on the business cards.

I recently got a Chase Ink Preferred card and I don't have a business. It's my first Chase card.
I put Retail: Nonstore Retail/Used Merchandise Stores/Used Merchandise Stores. For income I put $1,000 and 1 year in business. Called the automated line the next morning and was approved.

I applied for the Ink Preferred yesterday, and i’m Waiting on approval. It will take the place of my CSP, and i’ll still put gas/dining out on my Ink Business for the 2% cash back.
When I get my Ink Preferred, i’ll cancel CSP and they said I could request a refund if the Annual Fee that I just paid in July.

What message did they give you when you applied? Check out this chart.

It just says ‘we got your application and we’ll let you know as soon as possible’ I’ll probably call about it tomorrow, since it was just yesterday that I applied

You can call now and see. I applied during the evening and called the very next morning and was approved. I then called to get the card expedited.

The last 2 you mentioned only show rewards in cash not in points as far as I can see.
Is there a way you are converting their $500 cash back reward to 50k points?

Yea if you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred/Reserve or a Chase Ink Preferred you can convert it. It appears to automatically convert if you're already in possession of one of the above cards.

I have preferred and ink preferred.
So if I link one of those cards to the same account as my others it should give me the option to collect in cash back or points after reaching the 3k within 3 months threshold?
Also, would I use the same "business" as previously used for the ink preferred or make up a new one for the other 2 business cards
