Will definitely do the Pocket Wifi.

My pocket wifi got me 75mbps (Cable internet speeds)for $7/day or so. It had service everywhere too including the summit of Mt. Fuji

That meant I was able to:

-Make + receive calls on my phone # using TMobile Wifi Calling
-Have internet for my laptop everywhere
-Use GPS + Google Maps
-FaceTime'd the wife Mt. Fuji's sunrise from the summit
-Use internet anywhere I went

I didn't have full unfettered access, ie when I was in the middle of a field in Peru, but I was able to text/Snapchat in all the cities and even at spots on Machu Picchu with Project Fi. That was kind of neat.

Has anyone done an Australia flight trip on rewards?

We went on United via the west coast. Within Australia, we used AA miles to book qantas flights. I can't remember how difficult it was to find United availability.

FYI

AT&T now has a daily international plan. $10 per day with unlimited use and you only pay on days that you use it. You don't have to purchase the monthly Passport Plan anymore without the severely restricted use.

If you are going to Japan, the safer bet is to go with the pocket wifi. It is both cheaper + likely to have the correct cell tower bands for Japan

Verizon has the same, but I passed on it and just bought a local sim card when I went to Spain. So glad I did because it saved me $175.

$10/day for 3 weeks would've ran me $210. I paid $20 for a pre-loaded sim card, then another $15 to reload it later on.

The only downfall is it changes your number. That didn't matter to me though because I mainly wanted internet and I communicated with WhatsApp.

Did you use it every day? On a day in a city I probably wouldn't feel the need to have service on my phone when walking around. I could use the hotel wifi and check in for free with work and family. I'd really only use it if necessary.

You'll be glad you did. I had to stay in the standard room when clubs had booked up once. Doesn't even feel like the same hotel. Specifically, the bathroom is top notch.

Other fun notes, there is a 7-11 underneath the hotel that I want to say is open 24-7 or at least very late.

The lounge has a great simple breakfast spread. That said, if you want to spend money the lobby restaurant's buffet is incredible

Not sure why yall dont just buy a local sim when you land? It is dirt cheap abroad. I paid $15 for 10 gigs of LTE, unlimited talk and text for over 2 weeks in Indonesia recently. And its not just asia. Its 5 euro for 3 gigs in europe.

Absolutely. I would've been lost without Google maps. I was also streaming Spotify in my rental car, talking on WhatsApp daily, using Google translate, looking for things to do, booking rooms, etc.

I really needed the data.

Sim cards for Tokyo are slightly more expensive and comes with some downsides compared to pocket wifi

Pocketwifi is a mobile hotspot that typically has faster LTE, runs slightly cheaper and you can connect multiple devices to it.

Most providers now offer wifi calling, so you can retain your US phone # as well

I'll also note I was by myself so I was much more dependent on my phone.

One of the things I like about TMO the most, I travel internationally fairly often and data and texting are free and I can call back to the US for $.20/min. I never seem to need to make local calls in whatever country so it's never been an issue.

Can anyone answer this, I think I know the answer but want to check.

If you have ABC, LLC and someone has a business card attached to ABC, LLC (say the Chase Ink Business), could another person open same account and still get the sign up bonus? Or is the sign up bonus tagged to particular business?

I think its the former, but want to check.

Probably depends on how they apply. If they used the EIN, which I assume they did, then another application using that EIN isn't getting the bonus.

But say some one uses "ABC", states they are a sole proprietorship, and uses their SSN, then they probably would.

I'll add that lying on the application is never a good idea. Great way to get blacklisted.

Yes the EIN is what was used for original application. So you think the bonus is tied to a particular EIN and not the individual getting the card?

I would assume so because business cards will have its own credit report separate from the individual.

But as VABuckeye noted, I would think you are taking a risk that they figure out the ruse if too much info matches up and they put two and two together.
