Going to Secrets Akumal in Rivera Maya this January. Used 60,000 AAdvantage miles to cover flights and 148,000 Chase Rewards Points Cashed out to book the resort. Total out of pocket will be a little less than $700. I like it

I buy the grocery store's GCs. Sure, that's not as big as a mischievous win over the CC company as manufacturing spend, but making sure you maximize the quarter is still a win. I'll use up those cards over the next two months buying food.
Oh, well I don't shop at grocery stores that much. Do most of mine at Costco, but this quarter is easy because I just buy VGC's at Walgreen's and use them elsewhere.

Third quarter is restaurants and movie theaters.
This won't be hard for me because of....

I'll easily max that out between dining and bars. It's why I love the CSR so much. 3x's on dining all the time? It's like my drinking has a purpose now

Can't buy gcs with a CC at Albertsons? Are you sure?
Freedom 5x at grocery is easy to maximize with Albertsons and Whole foods (both sell $500 VGC)

Is the csr still a good value, I missed out on the 100k points last year. I currently only have an amazon card.

If you have a business card like the Capital One Spark Business, go to Office Depot and buy prepaid cards. Mega points. Profit!

Yes, but only if you will comfortably use your $300 travel credit every year. Tack on $20 per year value for Global Entry, and now you're down to $130 in annual fee. Between the triple points for travel and dining and the 50% travel redemption bonus, I see no reason to carry a Preferred in order to save $35 per year.

If I have already hit Chase's 5/24, what are my odds of getting approved for their IHG and Southwest cards?
I've already done Bank of America, Barclaycard, Chase Hyatt, Sapphire Preferred..what's left?
I haven't applied for any cards since last August.
Looking to take a couple of short trips this fall. Denver and Seattle, possibly.
TIA

I thought if you were at 5/24 you were done for chase cards?

I've heard that, but I've also heard that you can still get some of their partner cards, like Southwest, IHG, Hyatt, after 5/24.
I'm looking at a Delta card, United, Citi Thank You..I don't want to waste credit pulls on Chase if I'm going to get denied due to 5/24. Chase has the Marriott card too..why does Chase have to own everything?!

I think that there are some partner branded cards that are supposed to be excepted from the 5/24 policy (maybe Hyatt? not certain).

Chase Freedom 5x's categories are officially out. The poster before was correct, restaurants and movie theaters.
This should be pretty easy to max out with the dining portion. Mainly with my monthly bar tab

So should I use my freedom for dining this month instead of my CSR and just transfer the points over once I max out the category?

Absolutely. 5x's rather than 3x's.
Kinda sucks that it overlaps though.

I'll just suck at trying to remember to use the correct card.

Apparently Chase Hyatt will have sign up bonus of 40k Hyatt points instead of the 2 free nights.
Starting 6/29! Guess I'll have to jump on this soon before it changes.

As a technical matter, it's functionally a reduction from 60k points to 40k, which isn't massive. Obviously still less than ideal, however .

All the bloggers fail to mention that the 2 hyatt free nights is a steal for Hyatt all inclusives. It allows 4 guests free of charge per room. Wife and I went with our daughter and a niece to Ziva Cancun in April and it was awesome. Would have cost over $1500 per night and we stayed 4 nights with two cards.
Switching to points will screw that up as it will only be good for two peeps.
- Not even two people. Ziva Cancun is 25k pts per night for two

I'd pay the $35 just for the lounge access + quick customer service
I get an immediate rep for CS everytime I've called thenumber in

He's saying compared to Reserve, there is no reason to hold a Preferred
