To each his own. I'll do it to fly Club World and get there on the fresh side. Plus a few hundred dollars for what amounts to first class seats on an international flight doesn't bother me one bit. If purchased outright they are $10k tickets.

Yeah, true. But isn't the YQ on first class even more? I know business class is around 600-800. Isn't F 1k+?
I feel like I've lost if I pay 50% of the price of an economy ticket while booking an "award." I'd rather use the 600-800 to book a revenue ticket to accrue redeemable and elite miles. Other than that I like (close to) free

It's about the same price for first class. The flights I'm looking at to Milan will cots me 50000 AA miles + $487.50 a person.
Economy on AA to Milan is about $2700 so I see value in flying a better class for 1/5 the price.
I hear you on free. It's just for long flights I'm willing to pay something for comfort and sleep. The good food and unlimited booze doesn't hurt either.

That's one way though. RT close to 1k. Not arguing it's not good value. It is. But I wouldn't call it value because I wouldn't have ever paid revenue for business class ticket anyway. But in your case, definitely see value. However, would be nice without yq.
Have you checked flights out of phl and clt? I found some good results to Italy in June and also Zurich. I think from there it was something like 25$ to Italy

They better take credit for those, don't see why they wouldn't.
I had no problems at WD when last purchased there...it's been several months though. I definitely would break up that $3,000 purchase

I'm only concerned with first class getting there. I can do economy home on United from Rome to Dulles for 30k miles + $73.16.
Since my home is near Dulles it's usually easier to go through JFK or just take the 10:25 PM flight to Heathrow from Dulles which is perfect for having a few drinks, eating a nice meal and sleeping most of the way.

I think it's metabank, maybe US...don't remember. However, WD did have the policy of $500 and up in single transaction requires override from manager for each card - but some cashiers have the override code, and almost all customer service reps have it.
You can use them for MO purchase.

Ya, they only have $100 denominations that I can tell, which is already annoying. I'd probably buy $500 worth every time I go. Its a short distance from my house so I'm there all the time.
I am just hoping they don't have a separate rule in place for their own GCs.
It wouldn't be strange if they did. I bet it will fine.

Wait - they only have $100 ones? Those are pretty useless at 5.95 fee. Thats almost 6%..

How much do you guys MS a year? I do none but I'm curious about those that do.

Do WD usually have these in stock? Albertsons was almost always out.
Never has been a problem for me.
I need to get on some other unloading methods. I'm just not a fan of MOs and dealing with bank problems/SARs/etc.
Though I do have checking relationships I wouldn't care if they got closed down.

Teddy and Ameri,
I will check WD again but I bought the $500 variable a few months ago (same as Albertsons) I believe I saw the same ones for sell recently but I will confirm....I wasn't looking for them at the time. (I purchased in $495 increments and had no problems)

I did about $80K last year. Granted, a lot was through a shopping portal to AMEX GC, through amazon local. Now that route has been shut down.

I can guarantee they won't be a problem. Its the unloading that's the problem now without Serve. I need to cozy up to some of the other methods.
As for MS, maybe around $30,000 a year or so.
