I need Africa. Looking at a photo safari in 2017. Can't use miles or points for the safari so I'm hoping I can for the flight there and back.
ETA: Photo safaris are freaking expensive but I don't think it's something I want to go cheap on.

I still haven't been approved for my Southwest chase card...Applied on June 11. Does this mean I'm going to get denied?

I'd call and talk to them regardless if you haven't received any notification yet. No reason to waste a credit pull.

$10k and up a person for eight days. I find that on the expensive side.

Me too
Definitely on the to do list though. With little ones running around that one's going to have to sit on the back burner for now at that price. Sounds awesome though.

What are some good sites for tracking Credit Card promotions, outside of this forum?

Doctor of credit is good

And boardingarea.com has a dozen or so blogs consolidated on one.
Thepointsguy.com is good but ive noticed they will occasionally push a lesser offer that probably gives them a larger kickback.

How long does it typically take to transfer miles from Marriott to United?

I got approved for both Southwest Personal cards. I have 4,173 from this year towards the Companion Pass plus the 100k combined bonus. Once I spend the $2k on each card I will get another 4,000 points bringing me to...108,173. What do y'all suggest I do for the last 1k+ points?
Buy some reward points at the hyatt and trasnfer over? I know you can't just buy reward points on SW to add to companion so I am trying to figure it out.
Thanks
Also, I don't know if it matters for my credit but, they just increased my credit limit by $48,000 with these two cards.

Do you have Ultimate Reward points? You could always transfer those over to Hyatt, but they transfer at a 2.5 to 1 I believe.
You can always use Google Wallet.

Definitely improves your credit utilization ratio. Southwest cards give very high limits for some reason. I think both of mine started at 20-25k. I moved some of that over to other cards.

I assume you go to the grocery store like most Americans. If you are just looking to get that 1k, buy a grocery store brand gift card + gas cards + amazon cards
.
Wherever you would normally buy things, find their gift cards

My Serve CC loads are still working
And ya, what is the deal with those huge SW limits? After spreading some around, I end up giving some back to Chase so I'm not against the credit ceiling.

You suck
I'm about to cancel my Arrival Plus too. I'd keep it and pay the fee if I could get $1,500/month on it, but I don't keep it in my wallet for any spend. I'll probably apply for it again around this time next year.

Not a clue. I'd like to spend some time on the inside of the CC issuers learning the methods and reasoning of their madness.

Ya, it's too easy still to get rid of it. I also have been putting spend on it to offset one honeymoon hotel. I'm on the fence about canceling if Serve stops and hotel is covered. Its this and SPG which get our 1x spend

Especially when they let you apply for 4 Alaska cards in a day. I mean, they have to be aware right? I can't see ANY benefit to allow that. I get allowing churning to a degree because people end up paying interest, etc etc. But not that.

I have UR points but they aren't premium, meaning they came from regular sapphire and freedom cards so I don't think they transfer out.
I guess I will go the gift card route as Gene suggested, thanks Gene.
Thanks for the help everyone.
I'm making a trip to New Zealand/Australia this August if anyone has some quick thoughts on what I should to do lesser the cost on that one.
