The price of coins is what help drives interest though. Volatility also helps for the exchanges.

Agreed. Coinbase will likely follow the peaks and valleys of crypto bull markets and crypto winters just due to more/fewer transactions during those time periods. The day to day volatility of the cyrpto market probably less correlated.

You're probably right about seeing potential in Bitcoin/crypto, but you need to slow your roll on Lebron surpassing Jordan

Are they? I would have thought their revenues would be tied to the amount of transactions made and money stored on their exchange. Price of individuals coins being irrelevant.

I think it's a function of two things:
1) The absolute number of transactions
2) The value of those transactions, which is a function of the crypto value

Assume BTC at $50,000 and a volume of 1,000 transactions, 1% transaction fee. That's $500,000 of revenue.

BTC drops to $30,000 on the same volume and your rev also dips by 40%. You've gotta find 40% more transactions to stay level on rev at that BTC price, or bump your fees.

I'm not big into crypto...so maybe I'm thinking about this wrong.

I don’t think you actually under what $1.2 quadrillion is, nor did you do the math on your 100% per year return over the next decade beforehand, but I appreciate your effort to stick to it nonetheless.

I could be wrong, but I'd imagine the vast majority of transactions during the current bull market is people purchasing coins as opposed to selling. If someone purchases $1,000 worth of any coin, it doesn't matter if the coin is $1 or $10000, the value of transaction will be the same. When coin price comes into play is strictly on the sell side.

I did the math and I'm confident in what I said

but it's hard to solve for X when we don't know much more of Y will be put into the system

So are the big brokers already selling this? since they got in about 250, sticking it to the retail investors? i got in at 340. Was just wondering if that was legal for them to take some easy profits.
