Instead of the traditional colonoscopy, the Check-Cap method allows you to simply swallow a pill cam and wear sensors on your lower back for a few days. The FDA has approved the U.S. Pivotal Study which started (Part 1) this spring. The meat of the study however doesn't start until Q4.

Just like at the end of 2020, the company has received a notice from NASDAQ regarding minimum $1 bid price compliance. They were just granted a 180 extension which gets them to Dec 19th. Also like the end of 2020, the company is asking for a vote on a reverse split. Last time the r/s was approved by shareholders and the price rose above $1 without the need to leverage the r/s. Could the same thing happen again? Maybe. Either way, this is one to put on your radar.

A certain masked detective poster hates this pick because he prefers the traditional colonoscopy with no anesthesia

This seems very Theronasey. If it works, they are gonna make a ton of money. I'm very skeptical.

same. the primary reason being cologuard exists which targets the same population. there is some radiation with CHEK (altho rather small). but with cologuard you don't have to swallow anything or wear external patches/devices for a few days. people hate wearing external patches+devices. and cologuard is the less expensive option.

thats not to say this wont/cant be FDA approved, but i see it struggling on the market when there is already a cheaper and more convenient option. i could see it having great success contingent on it being near or equivalent to a colonoscopy as far as detection rates.

Isn't Cologuard just an at home stool sample kit?

Yes. And has been in use for years and covered by most every major insurer outside of Arkansas. Cash price isn’t prohibitive at around $600.

pretty much, it tests for polyp dna in the stool.
it along with FIT is are options for the avg risk folks to get screened if they would not submit to screening if it were a colonoscopy. this is the same target demo CHEK is.CHEK using external pads is a real negative IMO. how sweat/shower/bath friendly is it? will it bother people who sleep on their back, or sit in chairs for long periods? will it irritate skin or be slightly uncomfortable?

if CHEK screens get invalidated because the pads came off or the person took them off for comfort, I would be irritated with the product and rely on more reliable options. I dont want to waste my time or patients time re-ordering/counseling on the product or if it causes me to end up ordering cologuard anyway. the benefit of detection would have to be much better than cologuard (which is very possible) to make up for increased cost, invalid screens, and others who would refuse screening after CHEK pads fail for whatever reason.

for those reasons, its possible that even if its a moderate improvement over cologuard, CHEK may be a dud long-term imo.
on the other hand, if CHEK can get near colonoscopy level detection it will be a gamechanger...this stock will print money.

I'd almost rather just go the traditional route. How am I supposed to sleep with that shite on my back?

ETA: yes, my post sets up a joke about shite and colonoscopies.

They announced phase 2 of the Pivotal Study was delayed to mid 2023. This puts a reverse split in play if they can’t regain $1 bid price by Dec 19th. I sold 2/3 of my position this week above .40 for a small profit and will revisit this one in early November. Not a great update unfortunately.
