Do I keep my points if I downgrade to the CSP card? I can’t make the increase work out. I was borderline year to year making the previous fee balance out. Any recommendations for another card to take the CSR card other that the CSP? I traded my airline cards for the CSR since i typically use delta and United and the CSR gave me flexibility.

Yes

I'm curious to see if chase may add more benefits later on because it seems like most people on the travel forums are ditching this card

See my prior post:
Don't downgrade to CSP when you can get a new bonus to get the CSP.

You can go to a Chase Freedom Visa with UR. No fee and its the only way to get that card and your points are safe. That allows you to get a new SUB for the CSP, which is likely what I'm going to do if these rumors are true.

They just make the use of the program so much more complex. Maybe that's part of the gig is marketing of the benefits and then adoption rates are low because people forget about it.
Bingo

Thanks. That’s an even better idea.

Since I have an AF coming up in August I get to use all those extra benefits starting in late October through next August at my current $550 annual fee. That means I'm definitely keeping the card until next August and then will likely change to a CSP after unless I somehow use all of those coupons without much fanfare.
I think mine is in December, I am absolutely going to pitch a fit when they hit me with the higher fee and 100% cancel if they don't honor the old rate if for no other reason to stand on principle

It feels like Chase is trying to distance this card from “travel” and rebrand it as an “experience” card. I’m sure some marketing egghead told them that a lot of people are intimidated by travel, but everyone wants to be an influencer or some such bullshite.

Man even the hotel credit requires a 2 night minimum. No shot you'll be able to get 2 nights for less than $250 (since the $500 is split Jan-Jun and July-Dec) at any of their hotels. Making ya spend more.
granted it looks very nice and I haven't looked at any other hotels, but the hotel in Rome they advertise as an Edit Hotel is $1,150/nt

This is your sign us millennials are moving out of the marketing cross hairs for better or worse.

What would the steps be to go from a CSR to a CSP or other card and get the sign up bonus? Do you have to cancel one and wait a period of time and apply for the other, or can you do those steps together?
Posted on 6/19/25 at 12:07 pm to kywildcatfanone
You have to cancel and be 48 months from getting the bonus with the CSR from what I can tell
Posted on 6/19/25 at 1:56 pm to Civildawg
Yes, I got the CSR in 2016 and I have the Freedom unlimited now, so figured pairing the CSP would be the best option, if I can get bonus.
Do I cancel CSR and apply the next day? Waiting period?

Do you have a regular Chase Freedom or Unlimited?
If not, I'd apply for one of those and get that bonus. Usually max is like 20,000 points but better than 0.
Then move the points from CSR to that Freedom
Then cancel the CSR OR covert it to another Freedom (can't have enough 5x categories to max). Wait a few weeks. Apply for CSP.
Also, word is Chase will start allowing consumers to hold both CSP and CSR soon. I imagine Chase CSR will work very much like Amex Plat on that side too, with bonus "once per lifetime" but in actuality there will be opportunities to get the card again and bonus per special sign up links/offers.

So my Annual Fee just hit like 3 weeks ago. I think eventually what's going to work for us is to move our business over from Ink Premier to the Sapphire Business card from the looks of it, and downgrade personal CSR to a Freedom Flex or something (currently have Freedom Unlimited), but I need to hold off on doing that until I make that move with my business, correct? Or wait until Annual Fee time comes back around next year, and do it then?
Wonder if I'll be able to transfer the personal points over into the business points account?
This shite gets confusing, but I know with my business spend I can capitalize bigly on a lot of the credits, whereas I can't with our personal spend... Just trying to figure out if I'll be able to put a cherry on top with the personal spend.
Or if I need to look at something different altogether. (AMEX or Cap One)
Probably going to go look at our personal spend and business spend, round up all that data, and get Grok to tell me what to do.

Yes, this is easily done online.
I'm not following what's going on with your annual fee. What card is at issue? You have 30 days after the fee hits to cancel/downgraded and have the annual fee refunded in total.

Personal CSR. Annual Fee was charged June 1. But I want to keep using it and get a few of the perks until we swap the business card to Sapphire.
My new annual fee will not charge until 6/1/26, right?

Ah ok. Ya the higher fee won't happen until next year for you.

Ya just move your points there for holding them before you cancel your CSR.
