What a BS scam auto insurance is in Louisiana.

yes. just keep jumping as much as possible. i had progressive, went to allstate, now back to progressive. make them work against each other.

allstate was great early on then they went up. if progressive gets too high i will check out geico.

homeowners is a different story. my home has been paid off since 2012. I have been severely overpaying for coverage IMO.

only damage i have ever had was wind damage from hurricanes in 2005, 2008 and wind/water damage in 2021.

tempted to just get a policy for fire and wind/water damages. we are not in a flood zone. had water damage from hurricane ida because part of my roof was blown off then rain came in. allstate covered it but we had to fight them. greedy bastards.

USAA for me and wife with an Atlas and Jeep Wrangler was $250/month. Adding son with no car was going to almost double it. Switched to Progressive and added son for about $200/month. The renewal 6 month later was back up to $250, so we switched to Geico. Added a 2012 Xterra liability only and we just renewed for $1450 for 6 months, or $241/month.

I had shopped auto insurance a few years before we switched and the difference in rates was not nearly that much.

I'd get an independent agent and shop each year within their agency. They're motivated to keep the business but they have access to all the carriers mentioned and more so they'll find a good deal.

I use Zach Davis in Baton Rouge - he's awesome. Real smart and talks to you about what you actually need vs what gives the most premium for him.

I've moved my rental properties and cars to different carriers with him a couple times already and keeping it in the same house makes it simple.

Thanks TigerChamp.
I've made the switch to Geico and I'll be needing to move my home insurance. So in 6 months at renewal, I'll give the local agencies a shot for both.
I'm going to be likely making a roof claim from a hailstorm we had in May. So I can't move the house policy yet.
