You’ll have to excuse my chuckle. It went from “It takes a Whitney banker” to a timeless NOLA institution having to be bailed out by a Miss bank b/c they leveraged up the bank by paying 3x of the book value for multiple smaller banks in Fla with a bunch of underwater condo loans. Whitney Bank would have probably failed if it weren’t for that good ole Mississippi bank’s capital injection.

Hancock bought out / saved Whitney cause they screwed it up leveraging depositors money with a series of really dumb moves. They’re chartered out of Miss. and are a huge multi billion dollar publicly traded bank.

I have been with Whitney for 25 years, and I have to say the bank is much better off after merging with Hancock. They used antiquated software systems (I think they still used DOS!) and was like an old dog refusing to learn new tricks. When they merged, Hancock called me for a Whitney customer survey, and I told them that they treated a 10+ year customer like he just came off of the street. Getting a loan was near impossible.
The bank is way better now and modern, and I like how Hancock preserved traditional aspects of the bank, like the clock. The clock to me is a symbol of being robust and stable.

Yeah, but the people who represent the clock nearly failed the bank. So….

Might be one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this site. Bravo.
