What should you do to pull in and protect bull market mutual fund "winnings" in a 401k when you predict a bear market is on the horizon? Bonds are not necessarily a reciprocal of stocks, so .......

Hmm..as for me personally..I guess I'd transfer everything in my employer plan to the guaranteed returns fund and wait it out?

Guaranteed funds pay .70 or so?

Take your 1% in fixed income.
I don't see how bond prices don't fall - higher rates are happening.
The playing field is stilted because you can't short out of 401Ks.
Frankly, I see no reason for a bear market. Profits are high, and the market has gained a whopping 14% in 6 years; if measured from April 09, it's still only 265%. Compare that to the bull market between the 87 crash and the dot com crash and the market went up over 650%.
My only fear is that these crooked hedge funds who were, in part, responsible for the 08 crash, are itching for more and will try to manipulate again.
They see 401Ks as easy pickings.

I'll be concerned when the Fed starts aggressively raising interest rates. I believe this will happen somewhere between 2016-2018.
But with risk-free rates still near zero, I am all in on equities (for now).
