Anyone know how to avoid the $1 fee when you buy gas at Sam's?

Sam's is the only store in the world that finds it necessary to approve CC transactions in this manner, but I'm dumb for not knowing this? Well, nearly every fuel charge I have on my CC shows a $1 in the "pending" section. And it isn't just Sam's.
If you could grasp basic math, you would realize your CC is never charged for that $1. ANNNNDDD if you really want to avoid it, just don't fill up at Sam's.
Finally, on both of my online CC accounts there is a little box above the pending charge area that says "Why is there a $1.00 charge on my account?"

Well thats good for you but I guess I'm so dumb that my $1 holds only show up it the withdrawl/substractions portions so I just sort of assumed they were withdrawls and subtractions. I didn't go back to see if they in fact had been deducted from my balance. Nobody else I shop with does this so I thought it was a Sam's thing.

False...every gas station does this. They don't know what your total will be until after you've swiped your card so the send a pending charge of $1 to verify that the card is good...dumbass

You've just never noticed it...they all do the same thing and the $1 goes away once the actual charge hits.

Uhh you are aware that SOME gas stations put a hold of up to $100 dollars on your CC since they dont know how much you plan to pump when you initiate the txn. If you have a big gas tank thats gonna cost a lot.

In all honesty I did feel like a dumbass when I looked at my statement and realized I had not been actually charged. I don't blame you for calling a spade a spade.
