Personally I think the future of meat alternatives is in lab grown meat but we shall see.

I wish I had. I bought puts against it instead hoping the bottom would fall out.

In the weeks prior to earnings, I sold a series of far out of the money weekly puts (last ones had 67.5 strikes, when the stock was in the 80s). The IV on this thing was SO high (around 110%!!!) that even that far out of the money, selling premium on weekly contracts was profitable. What happened immediately after the earnings announcement absolutely blew my mind though. I figured that it would react strongly, one way or the other (which is why I avoided trading the options this week), but I can't remember when I've seen a non-penny stock go parabolic like that before: 40%+ at one point! Hells fire!

The prior valuation was crazy, but it was in an uptrend, so I didn't want to potentially stand in front of a train by selling calls or doing a strangle. But now, the current valuation is just insane. Insanity can last awhile though. If I played this, I'd definitely do it with options. It's too expensive to short it, even if you could find shares to borrow. Buying options on it costs a fortune too. If you pick the wrong strategy or implied volatility sinks, there goes your money. I'm going to sell some more weekly premium, but I'll have to figure out where to come in on strikes, in case it blows up or does another moon shot.

Hats off to anybody that got this thing at the IPO (or close to it) price. But just remember, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. I'd start moving some money off the table and not get greedy.

I agree the bottom is going to fall out of beyond meat. Impossible burger will be the star. But, as mentioned previously while they’re meatless so you can get the sustainability play they aren’t actually good for you.

I don't disagree, but are they worse then eating a beef burger? Most people that eat these are not looking for a healthy meal here, they are looking for a "splurge" just like a burger meal.

This has been a bizarre stock to watch. Losing money, small revenues... $10B company

It's about the same nutritional content of a normal burger, it has a few health advantages. It's not really a healthy alternative but a more environmental and animal friendly option.

I've had an impossible burger and it was good. I'd say above average fast food. I'd definitely eat it again and world even try and go for it over a normal burger occasionally.

I bought the beyond burgers a few weeks ago from Publix and it was awful. I couldn't eat more than one bite. I've heard in restaurants it can be a bit better but still not great.

This thing is bouncing as the shorts cover. You can profit flipping the inevitable swings.
