Family's got an ipad and I'm about a hair's breath from turning in my blackberry for an iphone.

blackberry's less than a year old, and is all but useless in how it's been operating of late.

Sort of what I figured. I know the iPad2 is out, but this deal on the iPad1 was too good to pass up.

I'd flip it on ebay and pass-through the discount on an ipad2.

They seem to be going for ~325 on ebay. That's only 75 bucks above what I paid.

I went so far as buying a few shares (for fun) a little over a year ago and they're up 90%.

I check MacRumors every now and then (mainly to gauge if upgrading my iphone or computer is timely), and have always wondered if any of the fanboys on their actually invested in apple way back. If so, they are probably incredibly rich.

FWIW - I have an an iphone and macbook pro as well. I don't consider myself "one of those" I just like superior technology and excellent craftsmanship.

Then maybe it wasn't such a good deal? iPad2 is a pretty substantial upgrade.

FWIW I'm a huge fan of shitty craftmenship and inferior technology.

Have you ever used your ownership of these devices to brag? Perhaps in a cleverly disguised thread on a message board where you appear to be self deprecating but are actually screaming at the top of your lungs that you are awesome because you picked the best consumer electronics device.

Meh, I think that would only really work if any of us thought he was poor. The MT guys are a pretty small circle, there's no need to brag or lie around here. I know a large % of the posters IRL, not from this site.

Hell, yes!

You haven't seen those five Lamar billboards I rent on I-12 going towards Hammond from Baton showing me with all of my Apple devices?

No?

Then you should take a ride over there and see them.

It's awesome!!!

Gee, thanks!

I'm not too sure others on this board will agree with you on that statement. ETA: I'm not sure I agree with it either.

I'm posting on an iPad while my iPhone is charging beside my bed. It acts as my alarm to get up. My wife has an iPhone and a Dell Windows 7 phone. My daughter (9) has an iPhone. My son (5) has an iTouch. We have two Apple TV boxes. For Christmas, I gave my wife an iPod Shuffle for when she runs.

However, we have three Dell laptops and three Dell desktops and a Dell network server.

Want to guess at which of these two companies my wife is a corporate director?

I'm hoping Apple, cause to spend money on 9 year old for an iphone is a bit ridiculous. Really? A 9 year old needs an iphone?

First, you would guess wrong. Would an Apple employee be using PC's?

Second, as for my daughter using an iPhone...

A. She's in multiple after school programs where she's picked up by others and she stays in contact by texting me.
B. She's turning 10 in two weeks but is already in advanced studies and is a whiz at astronomy, her real interest right now.
C. She has a desktop, laptop, iPhone, HD camcorder, and a digital camera
D. She's learning editing on FinalCut Pro for the school's TV station and she video records/interviews teachers and students and her work has helped earn the school a grant from SmartBoard.
E. She's working in the evenings learning Linux and also just received her first online class to learn coding in order to build apps for OS4
F. My wife and I are both in technical fields and we're obviously leading her down that path. The sandbox that my wife and I use to test solutions has a Linux box, NT box, AS400, XP, Vista and Win7 boxes. If she has an interest in learning it, she'll learn SAP Basis from us and as soon as she's old enough, she'll be qualified to take on an internship position, then she can pick up contract work (under our oversight) and be earning her own money to save for when she leaves college.

I think the fact that she has an iPhone is probably okay considering her aptitude, grades and drive to be successful, which we nurture and sacrifice for.
