Some of you may not have been around for this, but Wikitiger (who has not been heard from for a few years) was the first Bitcoin enthusiast we had here.

Will Bitcoin Hit $1,000?

When Wiki first brought it up here, it was around $15 a coin and he was very deep into the speculation.

Hindsight is always very clear, but imagine where you would be today if you invested just $1,000 into this speculative asset?

You would have around $3,500,000 - $4,000,000.

Wild to think about.

Wiki, if you are out there, I would love to know how you are doing.

This cat would have made well over 1 mil if he invested in 1k in Ripple if he sold during the 2017 run. Not bad for a 5 year return

I wish i listened as a 1k bet at $13 a bit coin would’ve retired me and probably most of us.

Saw a reply from TheHiddenFlask. RIP

Only if he never gave ripple up, never let it down, never ran around and deserted it

Wiki sold way too early for a small gain and won’t return here due to internal shame

I will sadly admit I was a lurker at the time in college with no money, saw this thread and his other threads, considered Bitcoin, then dismissed it completely. It has haunted me for years now

What a great bump. Wiki was so ahead of his time and so thoroughly knowledgeable about BTC from the beginning.

I see this all the time and sure people talk about it, but I’ve never actually met someone who got rich off crypto that wasn’t involved with starting a coin/token or exchange.

The way people online act like they’ve got rich in crypto, I ought to be seeing a bunch young people my age (mid-20s) driving Lamborghinis. I think most people may make a couple grand here and there like myself, but I doubt you have people holding a bag at 4,000x.

Maybe WikiTiger is an exception because he certainly had a better grasp on the technology than most.

that would be quite insane and well beyond any profit I wouldve imagined when I got in around 4 bucks.

To be fair Anyone who has ever sold Bitcoin sold
too early unless they put it into some other crypto that performed better

I doubt there are many people that still hold much of their stash of btc sub $100. When it hit $1000, $5,000, $10,000, and eventually $20,000 in 2017/18 I am sure most of them sold.

Uhhhh

What if a coin was sub 0.25 when it was brought to the board and now it’s $40. What math is that?

and mining really just serves as a substitute for a central bank. The math problems take enough time and computing power to solve that it serves as a mechanism to gradually increase supply with the increase in demand. Of course, supply is increasing significantly faster than demand, which is more or less the definition of a bubble, but live and let live I guess, they'll figure it out eventually. Some people will make a shitload, and the greediest will lose their shirt - bitcoin will end up being beanie babies for computer nerds and anarchists

i haven't really followed, but a lot of people who were celebratory during the first spike a couple years ago believed it could get to 100k+, so why sell at 20k? now i imagine the numbers have just shifted

the true believers are like Sean Parker in the Social Network
