Mett has potential, Mett recievers dropped too many passes, The oline could not potect him, this is all bs! This kid is not as good as people think he is.

You just showed you have zero knowledge of QB play.

Did you watch the video in the OP? It is the perfect example of everything I told people who said the same things during the season as you are now...

We have not had someone at LSU recently with Mett's mix of arm strength, touch, and accuracy. Sure JJ and JL showed occasional glimpses of being on the same level, but there were tons of balls thrown WAY off for no good reason. And JJ had the benfit of this mobility to buy a few extra seconds... Mett doesn't have that luxury and is still head and shoulders above the other two.

Mett may have overthrown a few passes (the one in the begining of the season that went into the stands over the TEs head was pretty bad)... But as SEC play started and the season progressed, you could clearly and consistently see that he was putting the ball in very tight windows where only his WR had a shot at catching the ball. That is next level talent that frankly isn't seen in college all that much (on a consistent basis)

He can make ALL the throws NFL scouts want to see... he can put it on a rope or drop it in over the defender. He can throw timing routes to the sidelines, slants, and deep routes.

He was obviously over-hyped going into last season. But he has a variety of skills that together give him a very high ceiling. Having Cam this year should result in noticeable improvement from last year... assuming Mett puts in the work.
I have no reason to think he won't.

I hope CC can teach him how to pick up a blitz.

He just doesn't seem like he is a student of the game, he does have a rocket for an arm though.

Coach him up Cam.

Great he can make all the passes but you forgot some crucial points to that statement. 1 He can not read a blitz to save his life. 2. He has zero mobility in the pocket.

By disregarding those two points and trying to say in the same breath that he has great touch then go on to say he may have over thrown a few passes proves that you have zero knowledge of QB play.

Don't get me wrong the kid is decent but just like prior to last season I am not drinking the Kool aid. People stop referring to him as Mettsiah real quick last season.

I disagree - Mett DID play well enough in ALL games to win for LSU. Aside from a few over-thrown deep balls and a couple of stupid interceptions over the course of the year, he led the team well.

In the FLA game, some may have forgotten that Mett threw a beautiful deep ball to OBJ that was stripped at around the 10-15 yd. line in the 3rd quarter. Otherwise, we probably score a TD (or at least a FG) and extend or re-take the lead (can't recall which) - instead, the turnover completely changed the momentum to FLA. FLA moved the ball downfield 85 yds for a TD, added a FG, while LSU coaches went into panic mode after losing a couple of OL starters to injury - with no running attack and minimal creativity in the passing game to move the ball on offense, we lose - but, you shouldn't put that loss on Mett. THe play-calling in the FLA game was just about as conservative and choppy as the Clemson game (if that's at all possible).

I think he will be a lot better this season with a year of SEC play under his belt. Will be a lot more comfortable in the pocket and up to speed with the speed of the game. He is good enough for LSU to win it all if the rest of the team plays up to potientiel. Could have a good enough season to be drafted by some team in next years NFL draft.

Does that include not scoring a touchdown in the second half against Florida?

I think you forgot the drive where he hit OBJ on a long dart and he fumbled the ball on the run. That was a go ahead drive if I remember correctly.

Early in the season fans calling to the post-game show asked Risher how long it takes a new QB to settle in. He said, for him, it was 5-6 games. Mett's second half of season was way better than his first half. I think with the season past in his experience and a new QB coach that he will do very well. I also think the same about the WR's because of 1) the experience from last yr and 2) they will have some competition on their arse this year if they want to keep playing. I also expect Cameron to expect more from his receivers in quality of routes, particularly on back shoulder throws.

Only issues I had with him last year is pocket awareness and not connecting on the deep routes. He either overthrew or mistimed (early) every deep pass last year. I tend to think he was throwing too early, due to being rattled by the poor pass protection. The dude could be great though.
