The guy you are replying to seems to have some facts incorrect, but Dickinson was supposed to come here to be the SS. He said as much in his Mik'd up interview. He basically said he came here to be the SS, but it didn't work out and he's at 2B where he's most comfortable b/c he's been there for a while.

Then we have the question "Is Milam a better SS than Braswell?" Jay obviously didn't feel he was last year, but things change in a year. Jay did mention on the show that Milam was his best defender.
You don’t see many true freshman play SS in the SEC. BUmp for the monster bomb.

Milam so far is light years better than the error machine last year

milam is looking good at SS

Fielding the ball i have no complaints. He seems slow to get it over to first though. I don't mean arm strength, I mean he just seems to really take his time. Granted it hasn't burned him yet so we'll see how it goes.

he also hasn’t thrown one into the dug out
so maybe he is taking as much time as he needs.
the closest calls have been on some pretty long throws. i haven’t watched every ground ball but I his transfer seems good and if seen him make some snap plays

He might just know exactly how much time he has and takes his time when he can. I've seen professional shortstops do this. He'll get it out quicker when he needs to, I bet.

So why not just leave Braswell at SS and put Milam or Dickinson at 3rd?
Because Braswell was not good at SS last year.

There’s a chance he convinced Braswell his best chance to make it at the next level was as a 3B.

This is one of the marks of a good infielder, particularly SS. You don’t rush throws that don’t need to be rushed.
ETA: It’s also a check mark for their prep. He seems to know who requires a bit more urgency and who doesn’t get down the line quickly.
All positives IMO.

He double clutches on one throw and you determined that he is slow getting it to first huh?

I can't be the only one hoping this phrase goes away.

As a 3B with no power? What MLB team would want that?
I think Braswell is just back because he didnt have any real MLB stock to speak of, not everyone is cut out to leave early for minor league ball here. For some its better to just enjoy a 4th year of college than take a $100k-$200k signing bonus and start a year early on your likely short lived pro career. For braswell I'm sure Jay said, hey we may move you from SS, but we'll still find a place for you play and Braswell was probably more than happy with that.

I noticed the same thing last night but on a double play. was pretty slow getting the ball out, and the runner was safe.

braswells bat is terrible.

Braswell hit .310 in SEC play last year (3rd on the team behind Tommy White and Ashton Larson). That's a lot better than terrible. He also had a .410 OB% in SEC play, which was 2nd on the team. And those numbersdon't even include what he did in the SECT. He was on the all-tournament team where he went 8/21 with 2 HRs. He also went 8/21 in the Chapel Hill regional, but yeah his bat is terrible

Doesn't matter. Dave Van Horn texted him to tell Braswell can't hit.

Did you literally miss all last season?
