re: Your thoughts on Milam at SS

I haven't seen any of the Fall practices but going by what I've read/heard:
Heard him say this multiple times
I think this has muddied the waters a bit since one of the presumed starters of 2b/ss/3b didn't take many reps in the fall.
I'm starting to get the impression that this is what happened
This would kind of make sense too.
They're definitely going to shuffle a lot early on. I can't provide any insight onto how it will shake out, but if Dickinson can play 3B, we know that Milam-2b+Bras-SS was a reasonably effective combo up the middle and presumably would improve with reps. If Jay thinks Milam is his best defender, then you probably want said defender at SS

ay Johnson, who was on the show, mentioned that Milam was his best defender

Milam was supposed to get some time on the left side of the infield towards the end of fall, but got sick and was shut down before that ever materialized.

If Dickinson isn't an option at 3B and Jay has some concerns about him at SS that would put him at 2B by default.

erhaps Jay feels Braswell is better suited at 3B than Milam which would put Milam at SS almost by default.
This would kind of make sense too.

I expect Jay to tinker with the different combinations early in the year before actually settling on an answer. I personally feel that when the dust settles, it will be Dickinson at 3B, Braswell at SS and Milam at 2B. I do have to admit it will be exciting to see Milam play SS and maybe he exceeds my expectations there.

The kid is a ball player and will do fine at SS but as mentioned he will
likely play 2nd at the next level.
Always appreciate your thoughts Wild.
Can't wait for opening day.

I was listening to a Kendall Rogers podcast today and he said Brown, Curiel and Stanfield in the OF with Larson as number 4.

Definitely the best defensive OF with those 3
I like the idea of Larson at DH especially against righties

I like the thought of Curiel leading off as well.

If he’s up to the challenge as a freshman it makes sense. We lacked one on last years team so you’d hope a new face could come in and do it

Milam is probably the steadiest option, albeit more limited in range.

asked a few questions about this and got some answers. CJJ sold Dickinson on the SS job was his to lose; he lost it. CJJ had to pivot quickly and came up with the spin that Milam is best defender he has after he went out and spent high six figures on a 2B which he already had...smh

Too short for SS. Needs to be at 2nd base
Posted on 2/24/25 at 10:51 am to TaderSalad
shitty maybe...but factual

definetely more...hell a million was spent on the INF/C. all facts. will be glad when this has to be mad public so you can prove the naysayers wrong.

per the booster I just talked to you are incorrect...but proceed.

So why not just leave Braswell at SS and put Milam or Dickinson at 3rd?
Also, he told Dickinson that SS was his to lose but simultaneously convinced Braswell to come back?
Some of this ain’t adding up. The six figures part my end up be the most factual aspect of your post.
