Exactly my point.

dont go to the hood and you're fine

Don't know where the hood is, again my point. I am unfamiliar with the area.

i assume you dont go to new orleans either

Nope, not alone.

No, I'm not joking. A girl, by herself, in surroundings she isn't familiar is not a smart move. If I were a guy it would be different.

Downtown Memphis is ok. There are a bunch of hotels and resteraunts and things downtown and you can pretty much walk from one side of downtown to the other with no problems and they have a lot of taxies and a cable car system and downtown is very clean. If you don't leave downtown, you should be fine.

This.

Numerous hotels in the downtown area. And everything is pretty much within walking distance of all of them. Whatever isn't, is accessible by streetcar.

Neither, I am a single mom who is just cautious and is exercising common sense. So you would think it's fine for your sister (if you have one) or mom to travel alone to a city she is unfamiliar with? The key is the word unfamiliar. If I knew the area, it would be different. Not knowing the area and the places to stay away from is why I would not go.

I'm all for it. I go to B'ham every year, but I'm definitely ready for a change. I really hope Memphis gets it for a few years.

If its going to be in Memphis, I wanna see a rotation that includes Zephyr and Birminham and at least one more site. Move it around.

That's nice. It's clear that we have different views in the matter. I call it being cautious, you call it being ridiculous.
Can we just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

I've been going to Hoover each year since 2003. We have friends that have a motor home that attend with us. Having the RV lot adjacent to the stadium is very convenient and allows for all day tailgating.

While most people think of Hoover as Bama's home turf, can you imagine what the crowds would be like in Hoover? I think I'd prefer the Bama fans over the Ole Piss fans.

Autozone park is in walking distance to hotels, bars, & restaurants. Beale Street is wild. I'm definitly there.

but i do see how its not as family friendly as hoover.

IM4LSU, I'm a male and I can honestly see your point. When I was younger, this friend and I got off at an exit we knew nothing about in Detroit and we were heading straight towards a race riot going on. Thank God the police told us to turn around and what exit to take to get to our hotel. I'll be the first one to say to know your surroundings before you venture out.

The morning after I got all my stuff robbed out of my car parked in a hotel parking lot in Memphis, the Memphis policemen told me quite clearly that there are no "good areas" in Memphis.

Pretty sure I won't ever be going there again.

And my wife, mother or daughters are never ever ever ever never going there alone.

Thankfully someone who can see my point. I didn't think I was being ridiculous or unreasonable. In today's world young women (all women) have to be cautious and aware. I wasn't saying that the entire city of Memphis is a bad place, nor was I saying that New Orleans is a bad place, just that I am not comfortable going alone. Quite frankly, I don't understand why I was belittled for choosing to exercise common sense.

I think it's great and could possibly lure down alumni from the midwestern parts of the country, as well as be easier for some of the Mississippi LSU fans in the NW corner (Ole Piss territory).

Ole Miss will rep that place as hard as us, but only because they're half an hour away.

those of us under 60 years old know of things called GPS navigation systems, which tell us the exit anyway, so luckily father time solved your problem

Relax...Memphis is a rough place, but there won't be 187's outside of Autozone Park and the heavy tourist crowds won't be preyed upon.

Memphis suffers from black on black crime like many other cities...not black on out of towner crime. :nonracist:

I've heard the Gwinnett Braves park will likely be part of the rotation It's about 25-30 minutes outside of Atlanta.

why even consider this? Alabama will never allow it be moved. make no mistake the University of Alabama runs the SEC.
