My only issue with that is Mo won't be available for about 1/3 of the SEC schedule because of Spring football.
It's my understanding that Mainieri and O are still discussing how they are going to handle that.
To be a fly on that wall

Wasn’t making that argument. I didn’t realize PM had said that but I just thought I remembered Mitchell playing full seasons. Maybe I’m wrong.

I believe he focused solely on baseball in 2008 and 2009 but he played in every game in 2007 and 2009. I'm pretty sure he had an injury in 2008 for 10-15 games.

Yea and I think he will although they may workout where that's in a limited capacity per say. Who knows...he's on scholarship for football so obviously they have the final word.

Yea I don’t see Travinski in left.
Otherwise, I’m good with it for now. Just need to get Hampton going.

Agreed

I like OP's list. Small sample size, but we've got some dudes in the lineup that can rake. There's at least 3 guys I could see hitting 20 homers (not saying all 3 will do it.. but at least have the potential). I've been impressed with Mathis' pop so far.

A lot of LSU fans probably don't remember that when we won the 2009 College World Series that Jared Mitchell was voted the Most Outstanding Player of that series.
ETA: JM ended up being the 23 pick in the first round in the 2009 Major League draft.

Pretty sure the agreement was that in the spring baseball is Maurice's priority and he would work with football when he could.

I think there are 4 certainties in the line up, at this point:
- Beloso isn't coming out
- Cabrera isn't coming out
- Garza isn't coming out
- Mathis isn't coming out
There are 3 safe bets:
- Bianco will be given a bit of a leash in LF
- Doughty will be given a bit of a leash
- Milazzo will give Garza a break catching.
The big question marks:
- Is Mainieri comfortable enough with an infield of Mathis, Dugas, Doughty to leave Hughes on the bench.
- The battle for the last OF spot, between Gio and Hampton.
- Beloso isn't coming out
- Cabrera isn't coming out
- Garza isn't coming out
- Mathis isn't coming out

I know there was a specific plan around the time of the NCG. But we have a new DC since then.
I'm just hoping the football coaches will be a little more generous than to say "he's on football scholarship so we get him" since they wouldn't have him at all if not for the baseball coaches.

Just my guess, but if he's a key part of this baseball team at that point, then he doesn't miss anything significant in baseball. If he is mainly a pinch runner, he will spend a little more time in football.

Mainieri agreed that if Hampton came to LSU he would “make it work” and have a place for him on the 35-man roster for the 2020 baseball season. Mainieri said he’s very familiar with Hampton who has visited the LSU campus and the baseball facilities “it seems like 100 times.”
To play both sports, Hampton would be unavailable to baseball for fall practice and would be limited during spring football, which usually ends in mid-April. That’s the mid-point in the SEC schedule. Mainieri said it’s a difficult double play to pull off.
“Baseball is really important to this young man,” Mainieri said. “He’s an excellent baseball player. I think he wants to see how good he can be at baseball. Ed made the choice; it was worth the gamble. (Hampton) will have to earn a starting spot (in baseball) just like everybody else.

I can see Travinkski batting below the Mendoza line while hitting 15 home runs

I wouldn’t so much call him a projected starter in football, but he will be battling for that job and in the 2 deep. I just remember chad Jones having such a hard time handling both. Like Hampton he saw a lot of action as a Freshman & started games as a sophomore in football. And like Jones I think that’s where his future lies

While Travinski is an option at other positions, you first need to determine which catcher can best switch positions.
Since first base is out, you then look at 3rd and LF. I don't know any of their history, but they have had to play other positions and your starting point is which one is best at the other position, while still having Garza and whichever other one share the catching duties with Garza DHing when not catching.
We can't jump to conclusions because of one home run, we once had a player hit a monster home run his first college at bat and never hit another. PM is good at giving players chance and ultimately the best hitters will play somewhere.

Yup. Had an ugly strikeout over the weekend. But hard to ignore that oppo HR. Just don’t see that a ton in college with these bats

When Milazzo is catching:
1. Toups CF
2. Cabrera RF
3. Mathis SS
4. Garza DH
5. Beloso 1B
6. Dugas 2B
7. Bianco LF
8. Milazzo C
9. Doughty 3B
When Garza is catching:
1. Cabrera RF
2. Doughty 2B
3. Mathis 3B
4. Garza C
5. Beloso 1B
6. Dugas RF
7. Bianco LF
8. Travinski DH(LHP) or Toups/Gio DH(RHP)-If Toups is DH lead him off and put Doughty down here.
9. Hughes SS
I am giving Bianco a long leash to win the LF spot if he can't then a battle between Toups/Gio for the 3rd outfield spot and Hampton would also play OF when Milazzo catches and Hughes sits.
