We're not doing that right now, I'm just asking to those fans, why? Why would they settle for 5+ loss seasons? I never said stop supporting the team or the program, just why settle for mediocrity like that? Is it that expected?

5 losses has only happened once in the past 7 years, how is that settling for mediocrity

Stop fricking lumping me in with the fans that have "wrote the team off". Read what I've typed dumbass.

I love the rush, sure. I like "knowing" the team a little though.

Somebody might ask me:
"What's LSU like this season?"

Maybe I might say in a given season:
"Good running game, weak passing - D is good, but the run D is suspect."

... something like that (just speaking hypothetically).

I get frustrated when I don't know who the hell's gonna show up.

I like the interesting matchups too - Julio Jones vs. PP, for example.

Not sure if I'm getting my point across, but...

Its not. I'm just asking for all these so called "old" fans that have come here and basically implied if we go back to the old days, its "ok".

If you need to, go dig posts up from last year. I'm sure you'll find all the posts you need to see what I'm talking about.

I've seen it this year too. I just don't see how anyone can be fully happy to see LSU start slipping. I'm not saying they're doing that now...I just want to know what the logic is behind that. Why would it be ok to slip back into mediocrity when you're already at the top?

People who say that...are worse fans, IMO. It reminds me of all the dumbass drunk beer guzzling rednecks at the games that basically go to tailgate and don't know two shits of what is going on in the game 99% of the time.

Very good post. It is amusing to read these posts. Some people on here have the delusional belief that LSU should win every game and be national champions every year. It's an unrealistic and immature subset of the fanbase.

to stop reacting to every game like it's the end of the world.
Stop the hyperbole and overreaction, like any one game will take away the nouveau riche football wealth that we've been given.

that no one game would ever hurt LSU as much as the collective mindset, support, and upwelling of good faith that is excitement about LSU football, that swells from the fans to the players in the stadium, to the coaches as they eat in restaurants, to our cities, to the lsu flags on the highways, to the high school players and coaches across the state and south, to the little brothers and sisters and sons and daughters watching LSU for the first and second and third of times.

It's a collective subconscious mindset.

LSU's destiny is in your hands. And you shape it as you will.
No coach or game or player could ever change that.

And if Les Miles ends up dropping the reins and needs to move on? Fine. Great, well and good.

But the sense of entitlement must stop.

I could give a rat's arse what you typed. I don't know who you are, you've never said anything important enough for me to remember. You just happened to be the first negative frick that waltzed into this thread and spurred me into that rant.

And if it doesn't apply to you, then why do you care? It's not a personal attack, it's me spouting off my opinion of what I believe are a shitty, but vocal, minority of the fanbase.

What's that have to do with Florida's overall record that year?

Your team is playing for a positive record. Not an individual trophy.

I'd take a National Championship trophy over a Heisman trophy all day, every day.

Being ranked in the top 10-15 is not in anyway mediocrity. Mediocrity would be a national "ranking" in the 50's-70's. If you can't tell, mediocrity means average. I don't get how people like you don't realize that you won't win the NC every single year.
. No, but going 8-5 is in my opinion. Being ranked 107 in total offense isn't mediocrity. It's worse. Even the players and coaches say the goal is some form of championship, be it national or sec. Why should our standards be lower than theirs. I think we have a good team. I don't boo anyone. I'm not bandwagon and I donate money. I simply see the writing on the wall. Do u honestly think we r still at the same level now that we were from 03-07. If so then u won't understand. I am rooting for miles and he has shown me that he can right this ship. Just playing devils advocate I guess.

So if you're saying we're not slipping back into mediocrity, why is it even pertinent?

Won't even wait to watch the last two games of the season before crying your eyes out about how boring LSU is, how much LSU has underachieved
They 're boring not because of the two game not yet played, but because of the ones the HAVE played. Will they be boring and underachieving the next two? We don't know yet.

I hate those pricks, but don't believe that we are becoming them or ND fans. We are more like Michigan fans, proud of our program and wanting it to be great, but watching it fall off a cliff and are worried as hell.

Well, I'm not going to lie, I think some changes need to be made on offense. But I'm far from its the "end" scenario a lot of people on here rant about...

I don't see how being a little critical of your team is a bad thing? You can't be positive all the time? You can't tell me a thought creeps into your mind about how this is going to play out or what if? I'm not talking about being a negative a-hole, going around taunting players and declaring its the end of the program either.

I don't know how "old" I am in this argument, but nobody is saying that it's ok for LSU to go 8-5 like last year. I went to LSU during Archer-Hallman. It f'ing sucked.

We're in the golden age of LSU football, believe it or not. This 10 season run Saban came is as good as it's gotten in LSU HISTORY!

Do I think it's acceptable to only beat Louisiana Tech 24-16 - hellz no!

However, let's put some reality around this situation. The SEC is ultra-competitive. Nearly every school has a top notch coach and is pumping tens of millions of dollars into their programs. To expect to blow out these teams on a regular basis is just illogical. We should probably lose 2 games a season on average in the SEC given our position in the grand scheme ... and that's pretty damn good.

but who gives a frick if LSU is ranked dead last in total offense as long as LSU is winning?

Who gives a flying frick?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?

What was LSU ranked in total offense last year? Are they a better team this year?

For frick's sake some of you are so short sighted. I'm not going to even get into a football discussion with you because it's like arguing with a five year old.

But did any of you ever think that LSU might have learned that their young, mistake prone quarterbacks require them to call plays in a way that doesn't lead to a lot of yardage, but cuts down on turnovers?

That maybe this low "ranking" that is so important to you is by design?

I wonder if everybody liked it better when LSU was in 40 pt shootouts or getting their asses stomped by the Fla's and Georgia's of the world.

But I'm not going to argue anymore about that. This thread is about your attitude LSU fan.
