First of all, I want to say that LSU looks like a poorly coached team most of the time. But if this is guy has a 1.5 million dollar budget, and Bama and Auburn have 20 million dollar budgets, what do you expect? That’s like expecting the Pirates to finish ahead of the Dodgers.

No one will win at LSU with a 1.5 million NIL. So if you know you have to increase NIL dollars, may as well increase it with McMahon and lessen his buyout and see if he can win when playing field is more equal. Much more cost effective than having to eat his buyout, pay a new coach, and increase the NIL budget in one offseason.

A team that is coached better and competes with the mid level teams in the SEC. Florida's recruiting classes have been rated lower than LSU over the last few years. They're currently 22-3 and ranked #2 in the nation. Let's quit making excuses for why this team is so poor.

NIL budget is a red herring to divert fans' attention away from the poor coaching.

There may not be enough talent on the roster to win the SEC or a national championship, but there should be enough to just make the tournament, and going 3 years without making an NCAA tournament appearance should be unacceptable.

Recruiting ranking per 247:

2022:
Overall - 17th
Composite - 17th
Transfer - 11th
SEC - 5th

2023:
Overall - 47th
Composite - 50th
Transfer - 17th
SEC - 10th

2024:
Overall - 16th
Composite - 14th
Transfer - 63rd
SEC - 5th

Sadly, it appears to be working with the “basketball fans” whose interest consists of watching 15 minutes of 3 games in January. Those who are paying attention know the coaching has been abysmal for 3 seasons. He’s had nearly 30 different players over three years and the issues that lead to losing are consistent throughout. But yes, he just doesn’t have the talent. There are at least 10 SEC coaches who could take LSU’s roster and beat their teams with McMahon coaching.

Make the tournament? How about just win more than 30% of SEC games? He has a career losing record AT HOME in SEC play. In a sport where home field/court advantage is the biggest of all the major sports, that’s an incredible accomplishment in futility

No LSU coach in my lifetime has accomplished so little, yet receives so much completely baseless support. It shows just how little interest there is in his program. Few care enough to even recognize how historically bad he’s been

It's a BS excuse. You can have bad players that play fundamentally well. Then you know the coaching is in place but the talent is not there. Our recruiting has been better than our coaching. Both areas suck, but its not like we are incapable of winning games.

If a project is failing due to bad leadership and they say throw more money at it, do you think it will succeed?

Frankly this is such a Louisiana thing to say that it is laughable.

1. Ask for more NIL $
2. Use extra money boosters are now used to paying to buy out McMahon in '26
3. PROFIT

The Tampa bay rays have had the lowest (or one of the lowest) payrolls in the MLB for the last decade and are in the playoffs or in contention yearly.

Terrible analogy.

The dude is a terrible coach.

I don't care who you have talent wise, 15+ turnovers a game is a sign of piss poor coaching.

Keeping this dude screams I don't give a shite, so congrats, I no longer give a shite. Program can die

Yep, was holding out hope Woody would fire him after this season and get a real coach AND invest in NIL. Doubling down on this crap will further tank the program. I’m a season ticket holder and seriously considering giving them up. Good luck filling up the PMAC much less a new arena.

LSU doesn't care about men's basketball. Expanding the NIL budget is obvious and is something they'll have to do for any coach. But using it to somehow bolster Mac for another year is just pulling the wool over our eyes.

The NIL crap is a PR stunt to accomplish two things:

First, it is their way of justifying a coach that has woefully underperformed so that they can save a little bit on his buyout.

Second, the athletic department is praying that Wade takes a P5 job this year because they do not want him at McNeese while we are in the market for a coach. It will be extremely embarrassing when the best candidate on the market is the guy you unnecessarily fired three years ago.

This is not an accident. It was leaked out through Mascona last week and now through Shea Dixon. The win at OU was a convenient time to help push the narrative, especially since they feel like he might win two in a row with a win tonight.

Knowing that the home stretch is going to get very ugly, this was the best chance to push this BS narrative.

The bottom line, this administration is telling you they do not care about basketball. Finishing at the bottom of the league is acceptable as long as we finish in the black with TV revenue.

It's wild how much the loser, excuse-making mentality is ingrained in our basketball fanbase. They have been so used to sucking for so long that they just become okay with mediocrity. This program is on life support, and from what I've seen from McMahon so far, it doesn't seem like he will turn this team around even if given one more year. Woodward giving him another year will only prolong the inevitable.
