This is like the people who stand in line at walmart for 30 minutes complaining that they don't have more registers open. If you are unwilling to put down your items and walk out, they have no interest in opening more lanes and increasing their costs. No one is going to stop buying tickets because of the ads, so it would be foolish of them to not sell the ad space. Any business that throws away "free money" won't be in business for long.

They are awful. Worst thing about TS.
I'd say that the urine overflowing the toilets in mens' bathrooms throughout most parts of the stadium are the worst part. Disgusting.

The only thing worse than LSU's football, basketball, and baseball offenses are the video boards in each teams' stadium.

So, why is this not a regular practice in other stadiums on their big screens (I've literally, never seen any other place that does this with static ads)?

Is LSU just crazy smart, and everyone else are the stupid ones in this regard?

the sound system, that thing is complete garbage

I sat in TS south endzone for USCe and Bama. The sound system, piped in "music" during pre-game and phony Tiger Band music really detracted from the experience. I had a chance to go this weekend to Moo St. and declined for this reason alone.

Based on the number of tents up around campus now, many have done the same thing. The number of tailgaters may rival that of Towson.

This pisses me off as well.

Another huge problem I have is the lack of stats and other game scores updates. I've never been in a stadium that shows the in-game stats and scores of interest less than they do at LSU. It is almost comical. That is what most places use the ribbon boards on the upper decks for. Don't get me wrong, I know they do put them up there a couple times a game. But that is FAR too little IMO.

I have to attempt to resort to my phone, which doesn't get service inside the stadium.

I understand the ad space argument but why spend $10 million just to show them if hi def? The scoreboard before showed them all just fine and didn't raise my ticket prices.

Now this is something I agree with. I think it would have provided a great cheering moment to see when LSU passed 100 yards rushing on Bama. I often have to ask someone around me with a radio to give me in-game stats.

Why dont they just flash a different full screen add before each replay? You would get people to notice it, and it could open this up to more advertisers.

Right. My gripe is not with having prominent advertising for Coke and Mcdonalds, per se. I'm all good with them milking that for as much as they possibly can.

My gripe is using a significant portion of a high definition video board to display a static advertisement that could just as easily and effectively be displayed on another display, taking up space that could be utilized for the proper intended purpose of an expensive high definition video board.

The jumbotron at UT (they only have one in the south end zone) is HUGE. However, 40% of it is used for the same thing...advertising during the game and for replays. The entire thing is used when videos promoting the athletic program are played at twice the normal volume.

It is always, always about the $$$$

I guess, I stand corrected about my point of other schools. But, from what I've seen of that one, it is really a different situation, wherein the huge Jumbotron itself IS the entire scoreboard.
