I’ve seen the consensus that if this gets worse then LSU has no choice but to “boot” him. If this really is something that is deeply rooted within college basketball, then why not stand by our coach and then assist in flipping the entire sport on its head.

You all can continue to bury your heads in the sand but this is not good. Enjoy this year because it might be all we have.

We are going to get absolutely hammered by the NCAA
Yep. It really sucks knowing LSU will probably end up being the scapegoat (or one of them) while the blue bloods keep rolling on doing the same thing.

Can they prove beyond a reasonable doubt? No.
Unfortunately the NCAA doesn’t have to meet that standard of proof.
I hope nothing comes from this but bad PR, but it certainly makes me uneasy about what will happen.

If Sean Miller didn't get booted, then Wade isn't getting booted.

It's not good from a PR standpoint, but nothing in any of the calls I've read about say anything specifically that is a violation.
"offers" and "getting him what he needs" are not violations without additional evidence that has yet to be presented.
While it does look bad, nothing presented so far would mean "he's done"
This.

That call is 100% about Javonte Smart
Lol, y'all need to calm the F down. This is all so vague. When you got a guy like Dawkins who is a direct earpiece to these kids, it isn't a sin to talk to them to try and get an edge in recruiting.
Of course Wade spoke to this guy. Of course he lent an "offer." He has the plausible deniability that the "offer" could mean a scholarship offer, "piece of the pie" could mean playing time as a freshman, and so forth.
Unless they can directly prove a transfer of money, which I doubt they can, none of this proves a damn thing.

I figured this story was going to roll out after LSU won the SEC or at the latest after they got out of the first weekend of the tourney.
There is still some wiggle room for Wade to get out of this with his job but if they have more than this for his courtroom appearance, he's toast. If LSU doesn't fire him, the NCAA will get him fired by clamping down on the program.

Never thought about that, but that’s a great point... look I’m not saying LSU didn’t do anything wrong. Did they? Probably paid guys, but you can’t prove it from any of this. I think he purposely was vague about it. If the ncaa wants to come knocking they can take Duke, UNC, UK, with them. Sean Miller had much worse evidence against him and he’s completely fine right now. I’m not worried. We’re building a powerhouse and some people want to take it down before it gets up.

Do you know how hard it is to get Mango Cherry Powerade year-round in the Powerade Freestyle machine....I'd say that is a strong-arse offer...

Wade can do that, but now that Smart’s name is in the record, what’s to keep the feds from subpoenaing him? If he’s faces perjury charges for lying, I would expect he’d say exactly what the “offer” was. This shite is scary.

You're naive as hell if you think the NCAA will act without reason

The concerning thing about this is that after a the trial the NCAA opens up its own investigation. Does Wade pay players? I’m sure he does. Same as Duke, Kentucky, Tennessee and any other major college program. If the NCAA comes to town and starts digging, they’ll find something.

The feds don’t want any of this in.
The defense does.
Probably would have to confirm somehow that Smart is the smart mentioned
