Been trying to watch the XFL, it is really boring. The over commentating is aweful.

Confused why I got downvoted for just making TD aware of these conversations?

I never said I agreed or disagree.

I guess downvote because I didn't attach link to original post?

And LSU’s team didn’t have professional athletes? I guarantee more players from the 2019 lsu team play for an nfl team in 2020 than all xfl players combined.

If he gets hurt, he will miss out on millions. Not a great risk to me.

From what I’ve seen the XFL won’t be around long enough to draft...

If the XFL wants to be embraced by the football-watching public then they best not screw with the college game in such a destructive manner.

You say that but if the good players are in the XFL waiting to go to the NFL then people will watch the XFL instead of college football. No one's going to stop watching football because it happened. Your threat is a little empty

The XFL reminds me of semi pro teams where either it’s over the hill players or guys not up to par to make an NFL roster...Let’s just move along, nothing to see here..

You know how many people in this world make a good living without going to college?

The first priority of the XFL is to draft the top sophomore and freshmen out of the college ranks and start them on a pro career. The XFL has nothing to do with the NFL and their agreement with their union to to not take players until they have been out of HS 3 years. The XFL has no such agreement. There objective is to get their stars out of the college ranks. This does not affect the status of the players NFL draft status. This was the object last year of that league but that league crashed on financing.

College isnt just about whether you're going to make money or not. It's also about expanding your mind and learning about the world around you. Some things are more important than money. Money is just a tool

The NFL will not hold it against them if they're good enough.

As they shouldn't. I agree with you, if a kid is good enough to get paid $100k as a freshman to play ball in an alternate league he is already making more than that in other ways.

ESPN has done more to hurt sports in the last 10 years than they have to help it in their first 30.

For a football junkie, I have enjoyed this “off-season” league, but the drafting of undergrads scares the hell out of me. Only a matter of time before family circumstances dictate a few youngsters opt for the cash.

The quality of talent in the XFL is still a notch above college. Just about every player on an XFL roster was a stud at their school, but as we've seen for a long time now, prior success in college doesn't always translate to the NFL. Aaron Murray and Cardale Jones were great college QBs. Matt Elam was a 1st round pick.

Leagues like this and the CFL or the old World League/NFL Europe give players with some potential a chance to get reps they wouldn't normally have while buried on an NFL depth chart or practice squad.

I will. Fandom is an important thing in athletics, and not something that is easily created.

If the quality of the college product is greatly reduced, there will absolutely be a decline in viewership. And I would not be alone in not just switching over to another league.

If your premise was true that all people will watch football because "football" then the XFL would be drawing the same ratings as the NFL.

It's why there have been very few successful startup leagues in the last century. People watch early for the novelty, but they lack real attachment to maintain long term interest.

For me nostalgia plays a big part in my interest. I want to like the XFL but there’s just no emotional attachment. No favorites, no hated rivals... it’s background noise at best!
