Not sure if serious or just an alter wanting to flame. If so, epic fail.

I have a buddy here in town who is a WVU grad. He wanted 10 points on a lunch bet on the game. Giving up 10 points at home doesn't sound all that confident to me.

As an FYI - my buddy is very concerned about WVU's run defense.

WVU fans are still living in this world where Rich Rod is their coach and Pat White and Slaton are still in the backfield. They couldn't beat us last year and we were pretty much terrible on offense (and that had nothing to do with their defense, see McNeese State game for proof). We are light years better on offense this year, and a few notches above last year on defense. Its not even going to be close. We've also had 2 extra days to prepare for this. WVU is about to get greeted with the reality of where they are as a program as well as Big East.

While I appreciate your optimism and understand your point, I respectfully disagree. Do you realize that you have a poorly ranked run defense? Do you realize that we have a strong, physical rushing attack? If you stack the box, do you realize that our qb had a 78% completion for 213 yards against a good SEC defense? What makes you believe that your defense will win you the game?

Lol wow 213 yards. Your QB is nothing but a game manager. You're 86th in passing. Jarrett Lee will not be able to beat anyone. He's not that good. We will stack the box against your run game. You do have a very good physical run game which we won't be able to stop but we will be able to slow you down enough to prevent you from putting a ton of points up.

I'm not saying LSU will lose this game but you will not blow out WVU. Anyone who thinks this game will be a blowout is pretty foolish. You're offense isn't good enough to blow us out.

We have the advantage in the return game this year. Tavon Austin is 4th in average yardage per punt return. He's 16th in average yardage per kickoff return. We actually have the advantage in the return game this year. Tavon will have at least one return that gets us a touchdown or gets us very close.

And for those who keep saying Geno will throw 2 or 3 picks, keep dreaming. Geno is one of the best QBs in the nation and takes very good care of the football. He will not throw 2 or 3 picks. Darron Thomas threw it 54 times against you and only threw one pick. Geno is by far and away the better passer.

And last but not least we have the home field advantage which is always big in College football.

This will be a very very close game. It will not be a blow out.

This is the only reason I've heard from WVU fans as to why they will win. That's why I'm asking, because surely they can't believe that "being amped" will get a win against us?

Ask Moo State how that worked out for them?

You have the top secondary because you haven't faced a legit passing game but have forced teams to try to throw. this week, you face a true passer with solid wideouts. Not saying WVU will win, but you claim to have top secondary in the nation without having faced even an "average" passer yet. We'll see i guess, just don't expect us to rollover and hand you the W.

I'm not saying that we are absolutely going to blow you out of the water. I actually think this has the potential to be a hard-fought win. But do I think we will win? Of course.

As to your accurate QB: From what I've seen and heard he is a very solid, accurate QB that doesn't cough up the football a lot. However, the defenses he has faced have not put the kind of pressure on him that ours will. Our CBs and safeties don't need to intercept the ball every drive, just cover the WRs long enough for Mingo & co. to get to him.

Oregon's Darron Thomas has thrown for 9 TDs in the two games since we played them... 0 INTs. That's pretty good. How did he look against LSU's defense?

I would hardly call Thomas average...

Geno has thrown 7 TDs through three games... hmmm...

Here it is in a nutshell: (Captain Obvious I know)

Is WVU better than LSU? No way
Should WVU beat LSU? No way
Can WVU beat LSU? Hell Yes

Just comes down to: If LSU plays up to potential they win by 10-14 if they do not they will be in for a dog fight or lose.

I need to be on EPSN gameday

Geno has thrown for 1008 yards and is 4th in the nation in passing yardage... hmmm...

WVU's defense will win us this game. You guys keep focusing on the Geno and the offense. If we win the turnover battle its over.

The only way WVU wins this game is if Jarret Lee suffers a complete meltdown. And I don't think Les Miles will let that happen. I expect LSU to do nothing risky for the first two possessions of the game in an attempt to allow Lee to settle into the game.

WVU plays the same defense that Rich Rodriguez tried to use at Michigan. It did not work too well against Big 10 offenses. LSU's offensive style has much in common with many Big 10 offenses. If LSU avoids foolish penalties and executes its offense the game could get ugly for the WVU defense.

You only avg around 300 total yds per game

this is because our defense usually gives us a short field.

This isn't really true. Against Oregon you started on your own 31 yard line on average. On average against Mississippi State you started on your own 20 yard line. So no your defense isn't an excuse for the lack of yardage by your offense.

Geno is a good QB... I'm not taking anything away from him.

My point continues to be that Darron Thomas is not an 'average' college QB... and our defense ate him up. He's thrown for more TDs than your QB and about 250 less yards with a much more balanced offense and a RB (LaMichael James) that has nearly 100 more rushing yards than your entire team. LSU's defense had to pay attention to both pass and run... It only has to pay attention to your pass, how do you think that will work out?
