Every team on the schedule is ranked ahead of us except for Arkansas and Auburn.

Hopefully, this doesn't turn bad.

On the other hand, if gives up an opportunity to beat and jump them into playoff spot.

This is not a playoff team. Big improvements need to be made

If we would have beat Ole Miss or Kentucky or both on the last play of the game - like they beat us - would we be a playoff team?

We are really talking about the last play of the game in both games.

And, we would probably be ranked 2nd in the country right now if those two plays would have gone our way.

You are who you beat not who you lose to. Season still has opportunities ahead. LK needs to earn his $. We shall see.

Well sure, if we win out we’d get a bye in the playoff (winning out gives us tiebreaker over Bama and Texas for SECCG berth vs. Georgia and winning out means beating Georgia and jumping them for a playoff spot/bye too).

Unfortunately we can’t win on the road though and winning out means having to beat Bama AND Texas AND turning around an 8 game losing streak and sweeping the rest of our road conference games. No shot in hell but at least can continue fantasizing until our next loss

Tennessee and Miss State will both be 7-5 before year end.

LSU and Texas are in very similar circumstances imo. Losing to OU was bad for UT. They have a tough stretch

This. With 2 L’s your only shot is to beat a lot of highly-ranked teams.

The interesting thing would be if we win out but lose the SECCG. I don’t see any shot in hell at beating UGA unless their seeding is locked in so they rest starters.

A 10-3 LSU with the only recent loss being the conference championship… man I think we should be in.

A loss to Kentucky is never acceptable by a top-tier SEC team, which LSU is not. In Phil Steele's annual college football digest for 2026, he rates Kentucky as #15 of 16 SEC schools, ahead of only Arkansas.

I’m of course mad/disappointed in our loss, but I would be beyond livid if I was a Texas fan. Oklahoma literally cannot score offensive TDs and they gift wrapped OU a win by having a punt blocked for a TD, a pick six and then throwing another pick at the end of the game to set up a FG. Inexcusable meltdown by them but I enjoyed watching it.
