One of my many favorite stories of him is his strongarming the railroad to provide a travel package for LSU students to go to Nashville for the Vandy game by threatening to re-evaluate the value of the train trestles and their taxes.

or the times he'd lean over at dinner and eat off of other people's plates..

This would be over and the SEC would be issuing an apology for the intentional waste of time!

You ladies and gentlemen are too young to remember, but Huey did much to move La, forward including:
Channeling some Standard Oil money back into our state.
Giving school lunches and free textbooks for children
Building a new state capitol bldg.
Building several critical bridges including the ones in N.O. & B.R.
Driving on Hwy. 190 you can see to this day better const. than I-10
All The King's Men was a good book, but T. Harry Williams stated that it was fictional and not based on Huey's life. On 8/26/20026, Paul cited this fiction as a true representation of the "corrupt" La. government. He then equated our current governor to Huey and "fast Eddy Edwards"
Perhaps we should all be reminded that absurdity and corruption did not begin with the previous national government and media, To paraphrase Marshall McLuhan: The political medium (and sports medium) is the message.

Yeah. Too bad that FDR and his cabal had him murdered.
