Beat Alabama, but lose to Georgia and Mississippi State?

Pretty good debate going on in a text thread of mine.

The real question is what gets us into a better bowl game?

One loss to Alabama or a victory over them and two losses?

Lose to Bama and run the table.

Pretty of precedent for the 1-loss SEC West runner-up to make it to the championship/playoffs

This.

Bama looks to be historically 1995 Nebraska good, so if that is our only loss on the year, we're in the playoff IMO.

No it's not a good debate.

How about LSU win the games they play. Why do people with weak minds need to figure out what games to lose?

We can sit back rest players while bama and Georgia beat each other up in the championship game
It worked for bama last year

I don’t want a win over any one particular team to define our success, so in this scenario, I would choose the option where we only lose to Bama.

All that matters to me are wins, and the opportunity to play for titles. Bama is just a team. A very good team, but in the end, any team can beat you (and that’s all they can do to you). Likewise, we can beat them.

the Problem with running the table except for Bama...is that Bama would have to have 2 SEC losses for us to be in SECCG. And there is zero chance the powers that be will put us into the playoffs without winning the SECCG. Logic says...we should want to beat Bama. Recruiting would definitely be helped also...not to mention bragging rights after many years

What happens in the playoff rematch?

I'd rather beat them in the regular season than lose to them twice in a year, winning nothing.

These are offseason questions.

During the season, I would rather keep winning every game.
That sounds maybe simple and ornery, but I look at every season as a potential championship run, once the games get going... until we get knocked out.

Probably best to wait until the first loss before you ask which losses would be better.

actually it is pretty stupid. we are not getting into playoffs or to SECCg with two losses. if we only lose to bama and go 11-1 there is a great chance we get in the playoffs. bama and UGA battle out who drops out in SECCG. the question is will OU or OSU lose a game this year? doubtful bama does. it sure would help us if the 3 below them would lose. regardless it will require a monumental effort and string of achievements to acquire that.

play bama or UGA again in playoffs

Pretty easy. Lose to Bama, beat everyone else and finish 11-1. Make the playoffs and beat Bama in the NCCG. Retribution of sorts for 1-9-12.

Yeah, we don't carry the weight of Alabama in public perception.

We're like Wisconsin last season, (remember they only ended up with 1 overall loss). Wisky forced the nation to consider them by continuing to win, but they would still likely have been the 4th seed, had they gone undefeated. Any loss would have removed them from the hunt. I sort of think had they had an earlier loss, and then beat Ohio St (making them a 1 loss B1G champ), Bama might still slip past them, or then maybe Oklahoma.

Point being, we don't have a reservation, we have to crash that party.
