Would you make any adjustments to rotation and lineup for this weekend?

I think you roll with what has been successful to-date.
Fri - Anderson
Sat - Eyanson
Sun - Shores
Reaves @ 3rd
Pearson in lineup at DH/RF pending pitching matchup
Brown in RF pending pitching matchup
Frey @ DH vs lefty
Hernandez catching

yeah I dint think so, not at this point. Eyanson and Shores have had some concerning inning but have also settled down and been nails after.
I got to watch way more of Shores last weekend and i would say he actually pitched an amazing game.
Ump was giving him nothing in the edges and so many balls hit softly JUUUUST outside our reach. With a better zone he could have cruised through 7.
I also wouldn’t mind seeing more frey at DH. we are starting to see a sample size big enough for me to think he’s taken a step.
If we see a lefty midweek i’d love to see a Frey RF John Pearson DH game.

It will be interesting to see who starts tonight. I suspect Ware will start, which hopefully means Schmidt would be available out of the bullpen on weekends moving forward. Having him would be a critical piece added in. We threw 9 guys last weekend. If we are around that number, a typical weekend could look something like:
Fri: Anderson + Schmidt + Evans
Sat: Eyanson + Cowan + Rizy/Primeaux/Noot/etc.
Sun: Shores + Benge + Guidry
This is just speculative, but you can easily start to see a full arsenal develop without many glaring holes.

Curious to see how much Ware and Schmidt pitch tonight. I would imagine might keep both very limited (50-60 pitches or less) so they are available for the weekend. I could see them extending Ware maybe because last week didnt go well at all for him.
Also when Guidry might pitch this week/end

I wouldn't change the rotation.
I wouldn't throw Cowan or Evans tonight. Let them be fresh for Mizzou. Cowan will probably be the long man if anyone bows out early. He will be asked to get at least 6 outs.
Here is a stab at the 27 man roster for this weekend.
1 - Anderson SP
2 - Eyanson SP
3 - Shores SP
4 - Cowan RP R
5 - Evans RP R
6 - Hernandez C1
7 - Arrambide C2
8 - Jones 1B
9 - Dickinson 2B
10 - Milam SS
11 - Reaves 3B
12 - Braswell INF
13 - Js Pearson OF/DH
14 - Curiel OF
15 - Stanfield OF
16 - Brown OF
17 - Schmidt RP R
18 - Primeaux RP L
19 - Ware RP L
20 - Benge RP R
21 - Frey DH OF 1B
22 - Larson OF

For the last 6 spots, I think it's at least 4 more pitchers, and those are probably decided based on who does well tonight. I think we need one more OF and one more INF. Paul can play CF and pinch run, Costello can play OF and 1B and offers a power bat. Either Ryan or Hogg could be the other infielder. They've both moved around to various spots but I think Ryan has played m ore shortstop. John Pearson is also a candidate despite lack of a true position. The last 4 pitchers probably come down to some combo of Dorsey, Noot, Williams, Mayers, Guidry if available, maybe Dalton Beck because he's an extra OF and LHH as well.
There is probably someone I'm completely blanking on because I did this all from memory.
ETA: Added Larson. He went off pretty good against Mizzou last year, maybe this weekend he gets a chance to right the ship.

We’re pretty lucky to have someone like Shores as our Sunday starter. You’d like to see his WHIP decrease a bit from 1.50, and his strike-to-ball ratio to improve a bit from 64%, but you can’t really complain about a 3.15 ERA from a guy who gives you 5 innings every Sunday.
Considering what we typically have starting on the mound on Sundays the past few seasons, I won’t complain about anything under a 5 ERA, and Shores is well under that. We should win 75% of our Sunday games with Shores pitching the way he is, whereas we went 2-8 last year on Sundays.

I am interested in who is pitching wednesday.
Do we keep Connor Ware midweek?
I would think, no
We have 6 total LHP on the roster
Jake Brown doesn’t seem to be pitching at all.
Anderson is a starter
So you have Ware, Williams Primeaux and Beck.
I can’t see 1/3 best left handed pitchers spending the whole season only pitching agains UNO and the like.

quote:Larson, although he wouldn’t notice because he’s not seeing anything very well right now. You still have to include him on the SEC roster.

I'm more interested in how much they pitch versus who pitches. I'd like to have both and Schmidt and Ware available for 3 innings per weekend going forward.

Thank you both. Just went back an added him.
I wonder if I've accounted for the right number of pitchers of if it get knocked down by 1. The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking John Pearson is on the weekend roster.

I woudn't throw Ware or Schmidt more than an inning tonight.
I'd like to see 9 or 10 different guys honestly.
Ware, Schmidt, Benge, Primeaux, Noot, Rizy, Williams, Mayers, Dorsey, and if you can sneak him in, Beck.
ETA: at some point, Schmidt and Ware should be weekend only like Cowan and Evans going forward.

I feel the same, however I think we see one (Schmidt is my guess) throw 50-60 pitches.

I think Schmidt and Ware will eventually be weekend only unless one of our starters really struggles and they want to continue to work on a 4th option midweek.

Feels like the perfect time for a Mayers extended outing, leaving him off of the roster for the weekend. I know Jay loves Rizy (as do I) but wouldn't hate to see Mayers and Rizy piggyback for 6/7 innings if possible. Could hope that Mayers settles in and Rizy gets his control down a little more. Round that out with Noot/Fontenot/Woods.
Knowing Jay, he'll start Ware and let him go 65 pitches
I think he likes the idea of having 4 reliable starters. In a perfect world, we have one more efficient left handed pitcher and could keep Ware on midweek duty where he just dominates and allows us to have a true 4 man rotation in the post season.

Solid list. Didn't Jay usually bring 12 pitchers until the end of last year. Maybe I'm remembering this wrong.
My guess on the last 5 would be something like
Paul OF
Ryan INF
Beck LHP/OF <- just b/c of the dual role
Dorsey
Noot
That gives you 12 pitchers which I think was the norm for a while, but maybe not. I'd also not be surprised to see Preister there. Maybe that's b/c I'm used to Jay carrying 3 catchers with Milazzo, Neal, and Trav b/c he was mostly DH.

I don't think we've gotten consistently good reports on the SEC roster since Luke Johnson was the beat writer.
I know that some of the writers read this board, so I'm hoping this inspires one of them to attempt to report on it.
